This game needs severe gameplay and balance changes made to it if it is to succeed, imo.

it's too harsh on players who aren't great yet (increasingly fast bleedout the more you go down), players with less than amazing connections, and relies FAR too heavily on RNG for basic things (move speed, healing, etc)

Non of these issues have been addressed. I still will actively recommend against this game as such.

This game has serious problems deciding if it wants to be a souls-like or if it wants to be an RNG rogue-like and it really needs to make a choice and axe the part it has the least of.

(Reach) Rushed product with half baked features that are advertised as ready. Coop Campaign is nigh-unplayable unless you're in the same room with the host....and maybe not even then. Features from the original that were good were cut for no real reason.

Unfortunately, the developer has gone on to ruin the campaign entirely, making it borderline unplayable for non-masochists. Artificial difficulty spikes are not fun nor interesting, they're boring and infuriating. Resources being strategically left out of maps to prevent defense of maps you have finished (that you must defend by the way, no actually finishing maps anymore) is a ♥♥♥♥ move as well. Launch Pads being made useless for anything but cross-sector resource transfer at dismal rates is also a fairly bad move imo. Generally the game was trending upward in quality but, the campaign changes actually just kill it.
Additionally, letting some ground enemies walk right over terrain-walls has made defensive map building actually impossible without wasting tons of resources to build a wall around every inch of your base, and defenses to go with it.

Unfortunately, with nearly 100 hours in this game, I really can't recommend it in good faith

it's bad

the AI is bad

the performance degradation as the game progresses is...intense (and my PC is no slouch; 32Gb of RAM, 8c/16t processor, RX 580, SSD, etc)

it NEEDS mods to make it remotely fun past the first 20 minutes, and those mods worsen the performance issues, assuming they don't conflict and crash the game

ultimately it feels unfinished, raw, and abandoned (because it truly is)

Trash mechanics are just that. Trash.
Too much management on top of managing food, water, building materials, people, living space, building slots, space usage, defenses, and everything else.

Very buggy and quite unbalanced without mods. Even with it is unstable.

Avoid at all costs, its garbage controls, repetitive maps, buggy gameplay and unnecessarily difficult enemies will enduce rage.

A long abandoned game barely surviving with community intervention.
