Before I begin: I played this game solo for the major part - and it definitely takes away from almost all the fun and makes the game frustrating, especially around endgame.

Honestly a really fun game - for the first 20 hours, at least.

At first glance, there's a whole lot content in this game and theoretically it guarantees long hours of playtime - unfortunately, all the unlocking is done by doing the same thing over and over again, which you start to notice after not much playtime. It gets grindy very quickly. There's just a few mission types that you'll memorize by heart within the first 20 hours. You'll keep collecting the same minerals in every single mission. There's barely any choice when it comes to weapons. Considering this, you'd need several hundred hours to max your gear out on all 4 dwarfs.

The way cave generation works is worth mentioning. it's what makes you win or lose - you can end up losing a 30+ minute long mission just because your cave was horribly generated and the drop pod decided to spawn well over 100 meters straight above you - and you gotta make a way there for yourself (because the game didn't generate a cave system that leads up there) while also fighting an infinite swarm. It also depends on which mission type you're at.

The way enemy spawns work is really absurd at times - sometimes you're gonna encounter enemies almost only during swarms, resulting with a rather normal mission. However, often you'll get attacked by a whole lot of enemies right out of the drop pod - and after you're done fighting them, mission control will kindly welcome you with the message "Swarm! They're here!". You're left with no ammo, nor had time to pick up nitra. At times you'll have to split in two to get through all the enemies the game has thrown at you. Very frustrating, yet happens so often.

Overall, tons of boring and non-diverse grinding combined with your win being dependant on RNG factors does not exactly make a good game. You're definitely gonna have much more fun with friends, especially in endgame, but you still gotta be a fan of boring grinding. As for playing solo, you should find a different game, because this one's not gonna treat you good in a longer run. Hope this gets changed one day.
