A very nice puzzle platformer with the kind of unsettling but cozy atmosphere I adore. My first blind playthrough took me about 3.5 hours, so it is quite short. There's plenty of hidden stuff left for completionists, probably adding another hour or so of gameplay.
Because of its length in relation to the price tag, I'd recommend buying it on sale.

The game is very fun and addicting. The titular "snap" mechanic is a pure dopamine machine and has the ability to make every game intense. A match usually takes about 2 to 3 minutes so it's great for some quick rounds.

The competitive side of things, however, is absolutely atrocious. The matchmaking is really bad and you will constantly face opponents that have access to cards from a higher level pool.
You unlock cards at random but they are divided into three pools. By leveling your account you'll unlock every card in Pool 1 and then move on to Pool 2 (with a lot better cards) and repeat the same until you have unlocked every card in Pool 2 to move on to Pool 3 (with the best cards in the game).
Problem is: Even when you are in Pool 1 you will face people with access to Pool 2. And once you're in Pool 2 you will face people with access to Pool 3. It really takes the fun out of it, facing opponents that simply have better cards than you. Beats me why the matchmaking allows this. Otherwise, it is a very fun game.

Update: It does get better once you're in Pool 3 yourself. The game will probably truly shine once you have access to all the cards.

Boyfriend Dungeon has been on my wishlist for years and released out of nowhere. The unique gameplay mix got me interested and the crazy concept of dating weapons sealed the deal. Sadly, half of the main cast was rather unlikeable in my personal opinion. Different strokes for different folks, so that's hardly something I can complain about or count as a negative in the grand scheme of things. The dating aspect is quite realistic (in a condensed, gamified way) and you simply won't mesh well with some characters. Even the main cast offers plenty of chances to simply stay platonic friends if you don't feel like comitting to a person romantically. The dungeon crawl was fun but a bit simplistic. At least the different weapon types and unlockable abilities kept it fresh. Grinding materials and love ranks got a bit tedious towards the end though.
All in all I'm quite satisfied with the experience the game offered. I'm always glad to see games that normalize the whole LGBT+ community and add characters or offer options without making a big deal out of it. The price tag isn't really justified for the content it provides, so I'd suggest picking it up in a sale or wait until more content is possibly released.
Also, Sawyer is the best dating partner. Fight me.

- Level design occassionally has its bumps
- Traversing the map is a bit tedious the first hour or two
- Difficulty spikes drastically towards the end


Really solid Metroidvania with stunning art design and a beautiful soundtrack. Plenty of collectibles without being too overwhelming and an in-game function to remind you which rooms still got goodies to find. The world-building was surprisingly good for such a small game and the tidbits of story were engaging. Level design had its ups and downs but was solid all around. Traversing some rooms, especially in the beginning, felt a bit tedious. Combat and combat options were pretty flexible for a game of this genre and the difficulty ramped up nicely with the pace of the game, aside from some specific enemies that were a little bit too annoying to deal with towards the end. Overall a really good experience for any metroidvania lover.
