Bizzare. Weird. Surreal.

A funny puzzle (?) adventure game that promises to deliver a quite unique set of experiences. I swatted Japanese girls who either enjoyed it or turned into flies...

This is a fantastic game. Challenging but enjoyable with an awesome soundtrack which serves as a Skill upgrade mechanism. A bit odd considering the overral theme of the game but it works and is quite rewarding.

The setting seems interesting although the story so far is quite simple. However from the looks of it the Devs are still updating with free DLC.

The controls are intentionally limited which might be confusing at first, but once you get a grip on them it feels quite rewarding to pull some combos.

It might seem short but it has quite a bit of re-playability for such a cheap price.

I highly recommend it.

I got this really cheap and well I guess that pretty much made it worth buying it. The art style is quite nice and the boss levels I played (Creature and Hyde) seemed quite nice even if simple. However as far as the general levels design goes I find it a bit weak. They might seem hard but in truth I found myself dying over and over due to silly enemies combos that are pretty hard to avoid without any previous knowledge. The way I see it a perfect level design for platformers should be hard, engaging and fluid. Blood of the Werewolf fails in the last two. Music and voice acting sounded ok.

You're given some powers however from what I played they're barely used/integrated with the level design. They're all pretty much just things to kill quite resistant sack of meat. Which is quite sad since I enjoyed the way they worked, even though most of the time they were useless... And once again we go back to bad level design or at least identity. There's a timer and yet you're given a long range bow that takes forever to kill anything...

As for the story, I tried checking a quick cutscenes video on youtube but there's none (guess I should find a playthrough). Also the videos on the gamefolder only show the animated sequences and lack the text part which seem to contain most of the story. From what I gathered the setting is pretty straighforward: You're a baddass mother (which I really liked!) looking to find who kidnaped your son. From the Trial version you know it's Dr. Frakenstein and he's responsible for sending out the monster bosses to delay you for his experiments with your son. from what I gathered the story doesn't end here and looks like it was made with a sequel in mind.

In conclusion, gameplay is generally weak. Boss fights are nice although simple. Music and voice acting sounded ok. The setting seems reasonable but the story seems short and weak (but it is a short game) with an endind that doesn't really seem to reward you barely manages to pull you for the sequel(?). So if you're looking into buying this game I guess I wouldn't recommend it. Sure I grabbed it for cheap and if you're curious might as well try it out. However there's not enough good thing on it to recommend it over other titles. Even though the art style looks nice and the setting is pretty cool :)

An amazing art style coupled with a quite good game design. The music is lovely and the story is not only heartbreaking but smartly delivered through everything, even the controls. It's a short game but it's just right as everything flows together presenting a beautiful experience.

You should play it with a gamepad/control.

Written by someone who did not know the franchise.

Giana Sisters is a game of mechanics, which are quite nice and you can do some pretty crazy stuff with them. There were quite a few moments in which the momentum brought out by the skills precision was both fun and felt rewarding.

The soundtrack is ok. Machinae Supremacy together with the developers managed to create something fun, and not very tiring. However I do wish they could've done some more tracks since in the end you start to tune it out.

The art style is quite nice and it relies on the trope of Flower girl --> Grim world / Punk girl --> Cute world. But in a way I did get all my favorite things in one single personality. PUNK GIANA FOREVER.

Now the bad parts:

- There's a story, but it's as engaging and as complex as a trip to the supermarket.

- The boss battles are quite weak. Not difficulty wise, but gameplay wise. You spend most of the game feeling free while honing your personalities skills to their max, just to get that same freedom taken away. The last boss battle was so frustrating that once I died to him after landing the killing blow I quit the game and just watched the ending. I then felt enraged for wasting over 7 hours playing the last chapter (4 of those in the boss) to be delivered such a weak ending.

- In this day and age, why the hell should I be forced to replay a level in order to get X number of currency/item in order to access the boss level. And worst of all they don't seem to pass over to the following chapters. Usually when this happens I just quit the game, since I hate replaying and I find this a piss poor job of extending the game lifespan.

- The last chapter is useless. It's the largest and yet it barely introduces any new entertaning mechanics. However it does force you to master those your core skills, if you haven't done so in the previous two chapters...

- There's barely any enemy diversification.

- If you use a controller, which you should, get ready to deal with the bug that let's your computer start up the screensaver.

In the end, as much as I would like to recommend this game for the core mechanics and the art/sound style, it is a poor title in my eyes. At most get it in a sale and play 2/3 of it for the experience and sheer pleasure of honing your skill as a fireball combo machine.

I did not play the DLC since I was sick of the game by the end of it.

P.S. Played with an arcade stick.

A short and fun sort of demo that gives you a better look into the Broforce game without having to support early access. Those who watch expendables will enjoy rediscovering the characters in the game, trying to figure out what they do and how Devolver translated their movie counterparts into the game.

Story is lacking, mechanics are engaging, but not enough to keep me playing after unlocking all characters. It's free so why not give it a try?

Did not play much but I was expecting far more. The little I played gave off the vibe of an incomplete game lacking optimization. But I'm not a very big fan of grinding and classic MMO styles, so I was a bit biased against this title after reading other people opinions. Pity since early in the crowd funding phase it showed potential.

Before describing anything, I think I should state that I am sorta of biased towards the Metal Gear franchise. Always a fan (not hardcore), but rarely a player. Barely played any, mostly wathching others playing. Also my grasp on the franchise lore is not the best. With that out of the way, let's start.

I'm quite fond of action packed games such as the classics DMC, Bayonetta and so on. So once I was quite curious to check this new installment of the MGS series by Platinum. The hype surrounding it was quite high so I decided to give it a go once we got it. In my opinion the hype is indeed deserved.

In the very first level of the game you're delivered some of the most power fantasy moments I've had the pleasure to feel in a game. A battle against a Metal Gear Ray, one of the powerhouses of the series. As you slice it to shreeds you suddenly realize you're now parrying a giant blade and throwing this childs toy in the air with sudden change in the music. The impact of the lyrics sets in and you're ready to rush through the game.

The story isn't as complex as in previous titles, but it is quite mature and well developed. The characters are pretty unique and every single one of them will strike you in one way or another.

The game could do better in explaining some controls and game mechanics, but I guess I'm mostly to blame.

Zandatsu/Blade mode are a conflict in my book. It is a pretty cool and unique mechanic, but it ends up simplifying the game. They way I see it they tried to approach the problem in way that while works, could be improved. Making your everyday mobs walking slabs of diamond meat can become quite frustrating. However implementing a system that requires some precision could be the way to go.

As for combos, this game is filled with them, and delivers well. You can play as 3 characters, Raiden, Sam (DLC), Blade Wolf (DLC). Each holds a style quite unique, with Raiden being able to diversify more (he is the main character after all).

The soundtrack is epic, both in genre and quality. The way the pieces are delivered creates an impact that just makes you look up for them.

To end this, the game is quite good and engaging. I had a lot of fun with it, and the Final Boss battle is still stuck in my head and dreams.

Quite an entertaining game, with a very complex strategy and planning element to it. The action part itself could be more fluid but once you get the hang of it, it even gets exploitable with you handling huge crowds of werewolves all by yourself.

The soundtrack and is quite charming, and I just love the loading music. Quite a smart way to setup the mood while the game starts up :)

The way traps are handled is interesting, and sometimes unpredictable. However later on there's one trap in particular that gets too strong and would pretty much automate everything, if it wasn't for the high number of waves.

I highly recommend it if you happen to enjoy rich pre and in-battle strategy as well as the occasional action scene.

As for story, it seems engaging so far, but this is the just the First tome. Nice cliffhanger to make us look for more. As of writting, Tome 2 is being produced. Check more information on the steam community section of the game :)

An interesting title with an awesome pixel art style and a music fitting it. The theme is rididulous but it just makes the game more interesting. Pity the story is sort of average from what I've played. As far as the cutscenes art go, not really my style, but I'm guessing it was an attempt at creating something fitting the story.

It isn't as extreme as Ikaruga, which is a plus for me since I can't play on that level. However this game brings out a lot of interesting mechanics I've never seen from the few titles I've played from the genre. You get different ship models each with an interesting superpower which just further engages you without getting to ridiculous missile spam.

Now the bad. The levels are short and you quickly get through half the story in about 20 mins. But then it orders you to play all three previous levels again in high difficulty in order to go through. This was a huge disapointment considering I hate replaying games.

Overall I recommend it but be prepared to spend quite some time replaying it if you don't go straight Difficult Mode from the start.
