The current state of the game means I am unable to recommend this to anyone unless it substantially improves at a later date. Between their PR, treatment of the playerbase, malicious consumer practices with micro-transactions, constantly delayed or faulty updates, bugs, launch issues, poor optimization, and lack of genuine transparency, it is safe to say that for the moment Fatshark have nowhere near your best interest at heart and it is best to stay away for now. I may change this in the future if things turn for the better.

I decided to use DNF Duel as my "return to fighting games" title and I am having a ton of fun with it. I couldn't tell you the hard mechanical specifics of what makes it stand out to other fighting games but it being developed by EIGHTING + Arc Sys should give an idea of the wild power-levels and range they've given every single character in it. Everyone feels ridiculous and super-powered with some decent options for deciding how threatening you want to be through its MP system, conversions, and Awakenings. All the characters are fun to play and it's the first fighting game in awhile where I had trouble deciding on any mains (I ended up going with Kunoichi for right now). Game looks gorgeous but I feel that's a given with ArcSys helming the visual design on top of DFO being the game's basis.

Problems with it, however, appear to be with the PC port having issues for keyboard bindings, some people are mentioning issues with playstation controller inputs, and the game itself is honestly at the minimum expected requirement for features in a fighting game. There isn't much to say that'd be stunning other than small QoL things such as being able to hide your stats or winrate in Ranked. Lastly, the regional pricing for the game is horrid. Where anyone outside of some western countries or a few locations in Asia can expect to be paying x2 or x3 times the normal price. I'm hoping they make an attempt to address it.

Despite this, again, I'm having a blast with it. It will likely be my main game until SF6 or Project L if that shows promise in the future.

Update: It appears numerous issues still remain with no sign of supported content in site, however, I would still recommend this as a fun game with friends on a heavy sale.

The game is beautiful through and through with a great emotional ending. If anyone likes Abzu, Journey, Gris, or Ori then I'd easily recommend this one. Played smoothly, sounds great, lots to explore, and even a completion playthrough would easily be under 20ish hours with a casual run being like 8 or so that should leave you plenty satisfied whether you decide to 100% it or not.

One of the first games I got all the achievements for and would still be playing to play over and over. I love its tone, the aesthetic, and gameplay creating an over-the-top and violent arcade experience that can be still hard as hell.
