Game #55 of My Backlog Clearing Journey
Status: Completed

AC Origins feels timeless to me and stands out as one of the best franchise revivals in recent years. Bayek’s character development, the way the story unfolds, and the incredible attention to detail in the world design are major highlights. The game does an amazing job of capturing the atmosphere of ancient Egypt, making it feel truly immersive. However, as an RPG, it stumbles in a few areas—like being unable to defeat enemies just a few levels higher and forcing players into grinding through side quests that often feel bland and uninspired (classic Ubisoft).

That said, as the starting point for the series’ RPG evolution, this is the best place to begin.

Game #54 of My Backlog Clearing Journey
Status: Completed

This is one of the most underrated single-player first-person shooters out there. It combines fascinating story elements and clever map design with the smoothest movement mechanics I’ve ever experienced in a shooter. While I personally feel the first game had better balance in its multiplayer maps and gameplay, the single-player campaign in this one was an incredibly pleasant surprise—especially since I originally bought it just for the multiplayer. It’s a shame the series has been all but abandoned.

Game #53 of My Backlog Clearing Journey
Status: Completed

When it comes to the non-RPG Assassin's Creed games, this one has the best parkour, atmosphere, and setting in the series. It’s visually stunning and incredibly satisfying to explore the city, whether you’re completing side missions or just wandering around while listening to music. Plus, the co-op mode adds even more fun if you’re playing with friends. While Unity doesn’t have the strongest story or soundtrack, it’s still a fun and engaging experience that’s absolutely worth playing.

This game was so much better the second time around. My only real issue is that I played the director's cut, which forces you to go through a terrible DLC just to finish the game. This franchise had so much potential, but they completely dropped the ball with the mediocre sequel. Maybe I’ll replay it someday to see if it’s as underwhelming as I remember.

I wasn’t expecting such a good game—it really surprised me! People had told me about it before, but I didn’t pay much attention. Recently, I watched The Godfather movies and decided to give this game a try, and it was the best decision I made. The game is absolutely stunning in terms of graphics and music. It truly feels like being in a mafia movie, just like The Godfather, but in a playable version.

Game #50 of My Backlog Clearing Journey

Aside from the management system and a new game mode that mixes SRPG with strategy, everything in this game is worse than its predecessor. The narrative is absurdly disjointed, the characters are bad, and the dialogues are poorly written.

A fantastic game that managed to put me in a summer mood, even with December’s chill outside. It features stunning visuals, captivating music, and an incredible atmosphere. To me, this game tells two stories at once—one about the joys and struggles of a particular way of life, and another about how we choose to confront our problems. It’s a simple yet relatable plot where anyone can find something meaningful and personal. I certainly did.

A truly unique creation in the industry. For those with the patience and attention span to appreciate it, this is one of the best and most distinctive games you’ll ever experience—an impressive achievement given its production value.

I finally completed the main story today, something I should have done back in high school. At the time, I couldn’t finish the last mission because of its length and difficulty. This time, I took my time to fully immerse myself in the game, exploring everything I missed as a teenager—random encounters, dating, minigames, races, and other aspects I had overlooked. GTA IV stands out with its world, story, characters, and overall immersion, offering an experience I’ve never quite felt with other GTA titles.

Dying Light could have been just another generic zombie game, but its fantastic mobility and melee combat set it apart. For me, melee combat is far more satisfying than ranged when done right.

Dropkicking zombies off rooftops, setting traps, and smashing heads with pipe wrenches makes for a blast in single-player, even if the story itself is pretty forgettable.

Good night, good luck.
