Im a big Test Drive fan, been playing a lot of TDU1 and 2! - This game is probably fun if you have a controller and youre chilling in the couch - Im on 3 monitors and a racing wheel, this is my review:

Before Solar Crown was released I played a lot of WRC Generations, also made by KT Racing and on the same game engine. The FFB and handling in that game felt pretty good and gave me good hopes for this one. Unfortunately I dont really like the FFB in TDU Solar Crown - when youre standing still the wheel vibrates/ has more resistance than any real car has (im on a G27 btw - ive tested multiple wheel settings on the internet). The game also lacks a lot of wheel setting-customanization like dead zones etc.

They ditched the class system from TDU 2 with A7 A6, C4, C3 etc. and also no license tests. The new car rating system feels like Forza and removes a lot of TDU 2's original charm. After doing one race in my "new starter car" im told to upgrade it, while in the old game. upgrades were something you discovered yourself and weren't forced by the game to do.

There are no houses or housing agents to visit, 1 clothing store (at the moment) and all the inside car dealerships feel unrealisticly big.

When I tried to design a livery for my car - I couldnt apply more than 9-10 letters to a side before I reached the maximum allowed. This means that I can't even put the livery I want on my car as the game doesn't allow you to create it. (I was gonna do a old school 90s/00s JDM livery on my 370z that my game forced me to put a turbo on).

The devs of this game have dropped the small things that made TDU stand out from others, and instead gone for a more Forza-fied route with a car class system based on numbers, and with all the other stuff also missing + FFB feeling bad, I'll much more recommend buying Car X Street at the moment, which has a lot of cool new features not seen in many other games like fuel and tire consumption and realistic pricing on car parts.

The roadmap they released on youtube made me buy the game, hopefully in maybe 4-6 months its good! :) (me and my friends have been looking at the trailers and predictions for this game since 2020 lol)

Ive seen that in a few months they will add Ibiza, hopefully they could reintroduce some of the characters from TDU2 like Tess, the driving school teachers etc. but older. Would be a pretty cool story that binded the games together more and built upon the previous games story wise.

Mentioning story - the game is fundamentally focused on being a mulitplayer game and drops some of the story/singleplayer aspect that made TDU2 a good game.

Absolutely great game, learned to drift in real life trough this game, the handling/physics of the cars feel very detailed and realistic, and unlike iRacing, once the car oversteers, you can save it without getting a super hard snap on the front wheels with racing cars.

Lots of great mods are out there aswell, everything from laser scanned tracks and rally stages to silly stuff like lawn mowers with v8s, and everything inbetween.

Only negative thing about this game is probably the weird suspension physics when you manage to roll over the car, and as many other mention, the way the DLC's are setup - You can't join a server with a car you own if there are any DLC cars on that server you don't own.

Oh, and also no rolling starts or safety cars, something which iRacing does have.
