Delightfully strange and grimy with a distinct vibe compared to most other retro shooters. Worth a run

Unapologetically weird, strangely overdesigned, and enthralling as it seems to reject attempts to understand it.
Hack a door in an ATB minigame while 63 of your closest friends bunny hop around a city summoning demons, possessing bodies, and deflecting bullets with katanas.
It's janky.
It's awkward.
It's indecipherable.
It's E.Y.E, and it's perfect.

Banished Vault is a wonderful planning game, with a great atmosphere, style, and soundtrack. At the core, its an engine building game where you can (and probably should) spend as much time planning as executing and hoping the whims of the universe don't mess up those plans too bad. It makes me think about space travel in a way many other management sims don't, as the scale you're working with is so very different. You build entire planets of industry just to abandon them to get a few more star systems of travel for your colony.
It very much has a board game lineage, but the presentation moves that engine building up the extra mile and the whole package just feels wonderfully dreadful in a way a traditional board game couldn't fully do. There's no one else at the table to rush, and no one else in space to help you. It's the type of game that I'd recommend a note pad for, as it'll host a whole bunch of mathematical assumptions.
I can't wait to pick up the physical manual, which is not something I'd thought I'd ever say about a video game again.

TL;DR: Fantastic vibe and presentation, with fun logic puzzles and a slower burn story exploring some of the more conceptual problems facing programs on The Grid. A two-ish hour experience for the first play, with about 2-3 plays to see all outcomes.

Really enjoyed this, will likely go back eventually for the alternate endings. It wasn't what I expect from Tron, and I think it was better for it. The slow investigation never plodded, and brief points of action punctuated very strongly. It just feels Tron, and proves you don't need a light cycle race to make it.
The puzzle gameplay is enjoyable, though I don't know if I'll play it too much in the optional endless mode. If you don't like it and just want the visual novel, you can skip any puzzle scenes and just enjoy the story.
The additions to the world were great, and I hope we get more stories exploring these parts of the Grid.

At $15, I enjoyed my movie ticket and would highly recommend it. I'd love to see the soundtrack get purchasable.

TL;DR: Ultimately comes short of the delivery and feels frustrating and unsatisfying.
The theme and presentation is great, but each mechanic introduction just gets in the way, and just the base interaction feels slow. The goal isn't killing monsters, which is fine, but the scientific victories feel unsatisfying while also taking extremely long to fill, and failing means starting over. Unit movement feels stifling, and engaging with a kaiju is exceptionally uncomfortable, even without the grid selection issues (thankfully there are free undos). Weirder units seem to handle their edge cases in the most player unfriendly ways, and they aren't predictable until the bad outcome has already happened (For example: why does a transforming unit not transform in the square it is in, but instead moves to a random adjacent square?).
The writing and presentation are enjoyable enough for the obvious constraints but running jokes run aground early and it wasn't enough to push through the mechanical frustrations. The player input strings were a great touch, and the soundtrack is servicable.
The feeling of being on the back foot from a rampaging kaiju is great and an interesting framing. The process to turn the battle and then win the fight doesn't feel like I've overcome through tactics, but that I just waited long enough to gain the VP for credits to roll. More elements around a science victory to make it feel satisfying would have gone a long way for making it an engaging way to achieve success. As it is, the experience of a battle comes up short.

I recommend trying the demo to see if you have more patience for the combat quirks than I do, or picking it up on a sale to give it a spin. Hopefully it gels with you more than me.

Interesting exploration and deviation from other SMT titles. Evidently made on a tighter budget, but the smaller scope helps the character-driven story and makes sure it doesn't stay too long past its welcome. The style and presentation carries it if you enjoy this type of glitzy dystopia. Battles are a bit longer due to less reliance on instant kills, which helps make everything more important but can be a bit sloggy if played in long sessions. Recommended on a sale if you're tenative, particularly after the recent QoL patch.

A phenomenal and visually arresting experience.
Hard recommend if you want to be unsettled as you walk through a long-decayed civilization and puzzle out what's happened to the environment in an open-to-interpretation narrative.
If you're looking for a fast paced fun time with a combat emphasis, consider a sale or skipping. Scorn has a pretty particular target audience, and I fall into it. Recommend giving it a try and seeing for yourself.

Great puzzles, if a little obtuse, with a clunky combat system that is delibratley slow. It has more in common with a first-person view of PS1 survival horror titles, but thankfully sequences are relatively minor and focus more on resource management. Overall, Scorn has more in common with classic adventure games like Dark Sector and Myst than with something like Prey or Dead Space.
At its best when it's the protagonist, a novel vista, and an unexplained creature which is a combination hit really frequently throughout the 5-6 hour run time. Visuals don't overstay their welcome, as each level has a distinct look, feel, and purpose that keeps advancing the presentation

Rough around the edges, but with a fun core and fast paced shooting in a well realized Warhammer environment.

Supremely smooth solitaire variant that helps avoid frustrating deadlocks and easily burns away a few play sessions. The soundtrack is better than it has any right to be, and the story is a fun and short spy jaunt.
