I usually don't play Racing games
I usually don't LIKE racing games
I usually don't leave reviews
Especially not on racing games.

This racing game has figured it out.
The sound design, the art style.

Just perfect.

***POTENTIAL SPOILERS***

I don't post a lot of reviews. Trying to more so for devs that earn them and Rayll Studios certainly manages to pull through. For a price like this on such a nicely designed, oddly comforting analog horror you literally cannot find any comparison.

Let me explain. The stories are written in a linear fashion with little branches paths that you can take. The choices you make are entirely your own. You are reacting to the world around you be it home invasion or roadside killer. Your survival is not guarenteed. The soundtrack mixed with set pieces, lighting, and general atmosphere, you are truly given a sensation of isolation against a threat.

The clever addition of a cellphone conversation occuring as the story unfolds allows you to peer into your own characters thoughts and priorities and even allows you a different perspective from someone in certain cases.

The assets used flow well together and maintain the same level of quality throughout. Some are reused, some seem to be home made which is great, and means future episodes will have a plethora of new interactable objects which they certainly do not have any shortage of.

But what I think makes this game stand out amongst its peers the most is some unique traits that most other horror games don't bother with, and that's object continuity.

Lemme double explain: it's easy for any game devs to have a bad guy pop in and out of existence for a good jump scare and it's fair to do so. But in fears to fathom that simply doesn't happen. Yes obviously the killer or whatever threat spawns in somewhere on the map, but after they've joined you on the map, they don't leave. They aren't teleporting around, they have set paths and goals that their fulfilling while your side of the story unfolds this is proven in episode 2 and 3 where you can accidentally discover the killer early and get yourself killed. But they're sneaky enough to where you'd pretty much have to go back for a second playthrough to do so, knowing their patterns in advance. It's great. This is the first time in a indie horror I've seen something like this and it's made me a fan of the series for years. I cannot believe just how far this team has come with the quality of their writing, and game design.

Here's to the next episode, and this new companies continued and much deserved success.

You really must have nothing going on up there if you're still clinging onto this dead series. Probably the most mindless monotonous repetitive shooter I (and you) have ever played.

Stop. Just stop. Are you reading these reviews to justify buying this? The single player side of this game is easily one of the best narrative experiences in video gaming history. This game was an anomaly in AAA development. The levels of detail seen will likely never be made by human hands again, but rather procedurally generated by AI. It is a triumph of humanity. Never forget what we were capable of with flesh and blood.

Play this game.
