What can I say that hasn't already been said? From the combat to the voice acting to the music to the attention to detail to the MULTI-branching story line to the lovable production crew (including Larian themselves and all the actual voice actors themselves IRL) this one of those games that should be played by everyone at least once regardless of its your usual thing or even if you're not into video games at all. I'll give it some scores below for the record but this game goes beyond just a score in a lot of ways. Play it eventually if you haven't already and love it or hate it or be completely indifferent to it just know in the realm of "video-gaming" has been changed forever regardless of what the cry baby Devs and Publishers of other games want to say or imply about their own corporately mandated repetitive games.

Graphics - 9.5/10 Glitchy but can be forgiven overall just for its expressive emoting, detail, and just overall depth and breath of quality and it will only look and run better over time as hardware gets more powerful to run it and with mod support. This game will age fantastically graphically.
Sound - 9.5/10 All time classic amazing soundtrack and SFX. Down down down by the river indeed.
Story - 9/10 While in the end linear and repetitive on more than one playthrough the overall arc and lore and intimate yet epicness of the whole thing will have you not wanting to exit the game most of the time.
Gameplay - If plodding and involved exploration and detailed and intense turn based combat is your thing then "Welcome Home". The controls may take awhile for those that aren't used to the style of the game to get used to but in the end they range from "Fine" to "Fun as hell" with just a smidgen of sometimes frustrating/sometimes janky. May I suggest if you only install one Mod to install the "Native Camera Tweaks" Mod. You can thank me by leaving a kudos for this review =)
Multiplayer - OMG everything above + the best sort of chaos only an open ended (gameplaywise) game like this + your friends + plus your most devious macinations your imaginations can come up with. Must try at least once even if its only co-op.

Honestly the best game since the 360/PS3 era of Gaming and that's no exaggeration imho.
9.5/10 overall and will only improve with age. I look forward to whatever it is Larian does next. They are the "new" CDPR/Valve in their game making heyday/
Thanks for coming to my TEDTalk!

WHY/HOW is this game so good? The only game thats pulled me away from FFXIV since 2020. If it werent for Elden Ring this was my GOTY for the last year. I've gotten all the achievements and still cant stop playing. The trailer is right = Stop reading reviews like this and just go buy it already. Play 3 sessions and see if youre not feeling it.

Graphics 10/10 (Charming 8-bit aesthetic)
Sound 8/10 (Certain weapons and SFX can grate but overall very solid and cool)
Music 10/10 (Love classic 8-bit chiptunes? Youre in luck here)
Controls 7/10 (Plays great on Desktop PC with controller. On Steam Deck a LOT of tweaking is required and still doesnt feel 100% right. Still very playable tho but I had to take points off)
Fun Factor 11/10 Just buy it already and see for yourself

While I DO recommend this game (and all other Soulsbourneiroring games) because it is a masterpiece I cannot recommend it until the performance issues are settled and they do something with that awful "anti-cheat" software. For now have to give it a thumbs down (while it's still an amazing game I insist people play at least once).

UPDATED:
Theyve since fixed both of the above issues at launch as well as got it working (quite beautifully I might add) on the Steam Deck and other APU driven systems. An instant classic and must buy at this point.

This game is kinda janky and kinda shady. Why can't you turn off cloud saves? Where/Who is holding these saves? Why are there typos and weird spaces in the dialog?

This game feels like youre playing a sketchy web game on a sketchy website except here you're paying for it.

10/10 for internet paranoia

BL series is a staple for me on Steam since the very first one at launch. tl;dr I like BL (the main ones and the Tell Tale game) a lot. That being said I enjoy this game way more than I should despite the following major cons;

1. Having to wait 6 months for that stupid Epic Games Store sellout exclusive crap. I just won't buy the game til its on a platform I have more use for.

2. The game is unoptimized mess overall. There's a reason why both Nvidia and AMD have used BL3's benchmark as proof of their newest GPU's raw horsepower cause you basically need that to run the game as smooth as BL 1 and 2 did even on budget hardware at their launches.

I run an i7-7800X, RTX 2080 Super, 32 GB DDR4 2133 OC'd to 2400, and a Samsung 970 Pro MVNE M.2 SSD and yet I'm stoked when I can maintain 70+ FPS at 1440p. That's not good you guys!

3. Also lets be real here the story and settings and writing are severely lacking compared to the unforgettable first two games. While not objectively awful they are a PALE comparison to what came before.

All of this being said the "Good" is "It's still Borderlands" and if you've been a fan for a short time or since the OG came out that just might save this game to you. 50/50 for eveyone else.

Could not even play. Game minimizes after 1.5 seconds no matter the settings. Can hear it, can see the screen when I Alt-Tab. Cannot play. Controller seemingly doesn't work either.

SquareEnix, get it together. They have been terrible the last few years with ports and with a lot of their games in general. Am going to Steam Refund this. How disappointing, been waiting since original PS2 launch for a proper PC version and in 2020 I guess Im still waiting. DO NOT BUY.

A flawless game even with its flaws. Tight controls, weighty combat, top notch map design and exploration, incredible story even if you have no idea what you're doing or why, unique co-op and pvp, top notch music and visual presentation, etc etc.

Everything youve ever heard good about this game is true as well as (almost) everything youve heard back about it but cmon the worse youve prolly heard is "I dont like Dark Souls". That being my gripes with this game would be its sporadic performance both hardware and netcode related. Since launch its been all mostly smoothed out but there's a chance that you may encounter issues with either or both so heads up. YMMV.

Would recommend to any and all that enjoy action/adventure/exploration games with great RPG character building. Would recommend to those that enjoy top notch production design in their games. Would also recommend to those that like a challenge and that feels you get when you FINALLY defeat said challenge. Theres VERY few games that give you that feeling and a few of them are FROM Software games like this one.

9/10

This game is so insanely done I had no choice but to love it from the beginning. I'm glad "+" finally made it to PC and I'm always looking for something cool to play in VR.

Co-creator of Rick & Morty + peeps behind Stanley Parable + VR. That's all I needed to know. If you are into any of those (or all of them in my case) just play this. A must have on VR for sure.

My (biased) score:
Graphics 8/10 - Nothing groundbreaking but clean and solid
Art Direction 10/10 - LOVE the look and feel and vibe of the game world
Writing 10/10 - From beginning to end this game had me engaged and laughing and sporting a huge ♥♥♥♥ eating grin
Controls 7/10 "Typical" VR controls, your results may vary
Music 8/10 Simple and effective. Nothing really stands out but also it wasnt terrible either but lets be honest you not playing this game for the music and sometimes silence is the perfect backdrop for most of the game.

Overall 9/10
Honestly would have gotten a 10/10 if it were longer
