Hearts of Iron IV is a real-time strategy game based around the events of WWII. You can play as any country you want, whether it be Nazi Germany, the USSR, or Honduras. This game is a LOT of fun, however, it takes a good amount of time to figure out everything. The in-game tutorial barely shows what you can do in this game, so I highly recommend you watch a Youtube video to get an idea of how it works. There really is no definite "goal" to reach in a game per se, it depends on the country you play and/or what ideology you pursue (communist, fascist domocratic, or non-aligned). Chances are, though, you are either going for a world domination, or trying to fight off you adversaries and prevent that from happening. Also, a little FYI, the game never really *ends*, it will go on forever. After 1946, however, there really isnt much to due. Usually a game "ends" after the "big war(s)" are over, and the world is at peace. But during those big wars you will have tons of fun trying to outsmart your enemies, and invading your enemies to capitualtion.

I don't actually recommend you play vanilla HOI4 though. The mods of this game is what makes it so much more fun. Mods like Kaiserreich, Road to 56, Millenium Dawn are all very well done and extremely fun mods to play. There are also utillity and graphical mods that you can install too, if you wish.

I have only three major gripes about this game: One being that its engine does not support multi cores, and the other one, quite major, is its DLC policy. HOI4 is an extremely CPU-intensive game, I would never expect the game to run consistently at 60 fps, usually 30-20. This issue could be remedied if the game engine supported multi-cores, but unfortunately, it does not. It is one of the biggest handicaps about HOI4's game engine. Moving on, the DLC policy. If you know games like EU4 (another RTS made by Paradox), you might know about its atrocious DLC policy, with about $200 in DLC for the game. HOI4, suffers from this same issue, albeit not as large of a price tag (yet). The worst part about these DLC is that they are kinda required for the game, as they add important new mechanics to the game. Vanilla HOI4 is kinda like a skeleton, and the DLC is the flesh and blood that makes the game just *that* much better. This is a reason why many people do not like EU4 and HOI4: need to pay extra money just to make the game playable. The last issuae I have has to do with the AI in this game. Any country that is not a player, for the most part, will be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ braindead. You can easily figure out the mechanics for bots during wars, since they just throw soldiers endlessly onto your soldiers untill they lose all manpower. And ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ don't even get me started with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ peace deals. If you let the AI participate in peacedeals, get ready for absolutely disgusting bordergore and exclaves, because peacedeals are one of the most atrocious systems in this game. However, mods can easily remedy this, like Player Led Peace Conferences, so I dont consider it a major issue.

Overall, I give the game a 9/10. I would give the game a 10/10 if it wasn't for its atrocious DLC policy.

Honestly, want to like this game, I really do, but the negatives to this game just simply outweigh the positives too much. I used to have fun playing this game, but not anymore. The glitches and unoptimization have just become to much to handle. And PUBG Corp has just become greedy and given up on their players, they'd rather sue Fortnite instead of fixing this unoptimized garbage. I feel like at this point, PUBG is just a complete money grab. A $30 game, mind you, has MICROTRANSACTIONS. Now this is justifyable if the game is F2P, but that is far from the case. It's a shame too, as this game really helped pioneer the battle-royale game scene, and had a lot of potential to be a very great game. But now PUBG has just devolved into a cash grab, and a game that is slowly but surely going to die out.

I'd rate this game overall a 2/10, it could be a better game if it wasnt so glitchy and unoptimized, and if it wasn't such a blatant cash grab.
