It can be fun with the right people and a lot of practice, but you do lose quite a bit of brain cells in the process.

After some play time and a lot of information videos about HUMANKIND, I have to say that this game is so good. I always say you can't really compare it to Civilization, but I guess it is the closest game. It is definitely way more complex than Civ, but that doesn't make it worse, no, I think it makes it way more fun, and I already have several hours of play time in Civilization. The most amazing difference is the battle system in my opinion. You have to think of a lot of different things before you make a move, which makes your decisions harder, and it feels a lot better. The diversity of different troops is great, and it's fun to try new stuff out. But there are also some things that I think are not that great yet. The most annoying thing is the pollution. I think a pollution system is important, which is why I got the gathering storm expansion for Civ 6. But in HUMANKIND, I almost feel like it's for the best if you wait until you are way into the late game where you unlock techs that help you to reduce the pollution, because until then it is almost impossible to handle it, unless you only place extra buildings like a train station or an aerodrome. But as soon as you have one of the infrastructures in your city, that put pollution on every makers or farmers quarter, you can't really stabilize the city anymore, if you have a lot of them in your city, which isn't rare if you played civs that are focused on industry or food.
Another thing that I don't like is the small turn limit. I am definitely okay with the speed of the game, since you still spend a lot of hours in a game, esp if you play with other players, and the normal speed is perfect if you have a full time job. But if the game already ends after 300 turns, and you focused on getting as many era stars as possible, it's very unlikely that you get to try out all the late game techs, which is kinda sad, because I think there is a lot of interesting stuff in the late game.

So here is a small conclusion:
+++ Battle system
++ Religion system
++ Society system
++ Civics
++ City/Territory management
++ Army management
++ Variety of buildings
++ Variety of units
++ Trade system
++ Independent People system
+ War system
+ Different types of civs
______________________________

- End of war solution
- Some civs are unbalanced
-- Traveling over sea is hard, even for some naval units until the mid-/early late game
--- Pollution System

And some words to end this review:
HUMANKIND is an excellent game with a lot of potential. It has some problems, but that is totally fine, since it is still quite new. This might sound weird, but it is super fun to go to war in this game. The battle system is perfect, and you have a lot of variety even during the same game, because of different units per era and different terrains. In Civilization, I always play very passive because battling there is pretty lame. I don't even want to talk about the religion system in Civilisation, because it is the most boring way to win there. As far as I know, you can't win by religion in HUMANKIND, but you still get a lot of benefits from having a powerful religion. If you love strategic games, this is the perfect game for you. But if you would like to get into games like this, you should rather start with Civilization, since HUMANKIND is pretty complex.

super schönes Spiel schon seit der Early Access, manchmal denkt man sich einfach nur "WOW" wenn man z.B. auf einem Berg steht und die Landschaft überblickt.
