I long shunned it because it was often marketed as a spiritual successor of the OG game; but Doom 3 was also nothing like the OG and I still appreciated it.
Doom 2016 is a pretty good boomer shooter. Sure, the base movement speed could be a tiny bit higher, but otherwise the game is pretty fun. It does not force you to take X weapon for Y enemy, and you're free to shoot what you want when you want, although a little bit of weapon switching goes a long way.
I'm not fond of the armour thing on pinkies, but I suppose they wanted to make them a little more than just frontline sponges.
The weapons look cool and mostly play cool (though the combat shotgun could use a tiny bit more power), and weapon mods are an interesting addition (appart for one or two that aren't that good). Glory kills can seem a bit cheesy, but overall they're satisfying at times and yet aren't mandatory. In fact the game teaches you in higher difficulties that because you CAN glory kill doesn't mean you always should...
So long as you don't expect a game entirely like the first two, it's a solid semi old school shooter with relatively satisfying gunplay.

This is what a labor of love looks like. A raid game that feels like a mix of Touhou X FFXIV, and it takes a lot of the latter, turning it to its own sauce.
A charming universe with a simple yet effective story behind it, with a great soundtrack to bolster the experience. The stages are running around their proper theme, with both storylines and principal mechanics changing from one to another.
The classes (with their base mechanics strongly echoing XIV's) are all different and fun to play. No need to learn complex combos, all work with four buttons that may interact with each others - which can have variations according to the gemstones you buy between levels, granting a bit more depht to it. Though it is a little dependant on RNG for that latter point, it does provide interesting mechanic changes within a whole class, and allows for funny/powerful builds.
Yes indeed, it is a roguelike, and as such items are randomized and some runs may be smoother than others. As such it is a little less streamlined than a classic game, but I would rather have it like that.

TLDR a little gem and a work of passion. Dear dev, bring on the DLCs, paying or not. I am ready for this!

A great sim with plenty of content even without DLCs. From what I gather the physics have its up and lows, but the sim racing community is very divided when it comes to comparing games; even so, Reiza studio often updates the game and improve the physics of the various categories little by little (the latest formula physics update is a boon, as even to me they felt odd compared to other games prior to it).
The game has the immersive options of a regular sim, but it also allows to turn most things off for a more arcade-ish experience. I mostly race on my pleb G29 but sometimes on a controller during days of lazyness, and I have to say the controller support is one of the best in all sim racers. It does not feel as clunky as AC (or even ACC actually!) for instance, while not feeling as restrained or smoothed out as a GT. Naturally, controller options are customizable, allowing to bring out more comfort or spice. (Don't diss out controller players too fast, even Max Verstappen sometimes plays with one!)
One of the main criticism of AMS2 is the lack of a matchmaking option: while the multiplayer is not exactly dead, it is quite desert compared to other sims (then again, coming from ACC where competition servers in EU have become disabled most of the time...). As such, there aren't the matchmaking options one could find in a GT or iRacing, but AMS2 does shine on another point: starting a private lobby is done without third party tools, allowing for a quick setup when you just want to chill with your buddies. You can race with AIs even on a private server, and the game easily allows for multiclass on any track without restrictions. If you want to make modern formula 1s race with copa trucks, you absolutely can (whether or not you should is another question...). The AI is pretty fine when compared it with other sims from what I have observed, providing the usual customizable range of difficulty and agressivity - although I'd say, maximum agressivity doesn't feel quite as violent as in ACC's in my experience (things still do happen from time to time, though). A good point about AIs, especially compared to ACC, is the optimization. Whereas even 20 AIs drains my CPU in ACC, I noticed no difference on my computer when running at max AIs in AMS2.
My only gripe with AI racing here however is the current limit of 32 cars - above average among sim racers, but with multiclass 32 feels a tad small. Reiza has however planned to raise that limit, and apparently there already are mods that allow to bypass this.
I'd say in conclusion that AMS2 is a very solid sim, under active development and slowly improving over time. However, be aware that it isn't the best choice if you are mainly looking for competitive racing: in that case, games like iRacing or ACC may be a better pick. AMS2 is great for chilling with friends or doing some decent multiclass with a solid AI, and it also feels like a good gate for those who want to jump from simcades like GT to something more realistic. AMS2 does grant the realism of a racing simulator and the devteam works hard on improving the experience with feedback from the community, but the ability to turn the experience more casual and slowly turn the realism options on makes it better for learning physics, making it a good choice for aspiring beginners that are feels intimidated by the aliens of ACC.

A well-needed reminder that fun games and good communities still exists in this polluted industry.

tldr: very solid retro FPS with great gameplay, beefy guns, hero abilities and superb music. Especially recommended for Lovecraft nerds.

As an enjoyer of Lovecraft's works and legacy, a big fan of fast paced shooters and a metal enthusiast, this game is a treat.
The gunplay is very satisfying, and each weapon can be transformed through leveling up your character, most of them into two different builds. Even the base pistol remains a great weapon through most of the game; though I would argue that some builds are problematic because of the type of ammo that may be shared between some gun evolutions.
The levels are quite fun and varied, and their themes won't be stranger to fellow Lovecraft connaiseurs. The game starts off rather easy and forgiving, but spikes quite much in difficulty as the game progresses - something common to the genre. That said, there are a few instances where the darkness of some levels (mostly through the end game) becomes a bit of a frustrating obstacle. Having to lighten your way while fighting far off enemies on platforms isn't the most fun experience on an FPS of the genre, though fortunately these are rare instances that will make Doom 3 veterans wince.
As someone who is not fond of the comics style in videogames, I really enjoyed the artstyle. The five bosses are renamed entities from HW's works, aside from one which retains his true name. Whether or not those boss fights are enjoyable is subjective, I would say; I personally enjoyed most while finding them rather to the easy side.
The music is phenomenal. It fits the ambience well, and generally it ranges from mysterious and ominous during the most linear phases of the levels to a ridiculously adrenaline-inducing metal during arena sequences. And I mean pure, raw adrenaline. (In fact, I am listening to the OST as I'm writing this review)

This game went past my radar for a long time, but I'm damn glad I discovered it eventually. A hidden gem that is well worth the price.

Scummy company took down an indie game (Paradox of Hope) because of mere similarities. Congratulation on earning bad rep.

An Ace-combat inspired flight game which delivered as promised. If you're looking for a simulator, once again, you're not in the right place. If you're an Ace Combat veteran, you are.

The campaign is satisfying, the plot has its ups and downs but is overall good. Kinda less over-the-top than the Ace series, yet it isn't without its plot twists and its own things.

The Conquest mode is a sort of permadeath arcade mode where you can use your credits to buy a fleet of pilots and airship to assist you in subsequent missions. Plane unlocks are definitive, but can be reset on your demand.

Graphics are satisfying, and the soundtrack takes a few missions before revealing its true nature. The composer did a great job, and it definitely carries the soul of an Ace title.

A big yes for the recommendation!

This is the kind of product that makes me wish there was a middle option for recommendations.

The pack itself is nice and brings quite a lot of ressources, to change the style of the tiles, whether they are overworld, inside, outside or dungeon. The tilesets are very nice - and we have decent themed battlers as well.

However there is a HUGE, frustrating issue for the generator parts: they do not match the MZ sprite base, which results in clothes and characters being separated for the SV battlers. These parts were made for MV and have been lazily copy and pasted to MZ. At the price it is, they could have at least adjusted them for the new base - or if they didn't want to, they could have just made an option to select the MV style battlers to fix the sync. If you copy the generator parts to MV, they'll work just fine.

I don't like to whine and I really enjoy RPGMZ, but this issue makes me unable to recommend it - partly due to it being a lazy copy and paste. If my memory serves right, these resources weren't able for MV, too. When you promise generator parts, at least make them fit your new product. If one day they decide to fix it, then I'll happily switch my review, but for now there's no way.

Nostalgia overload. FFX was memorable, and now you can experience it in HD.
The soundtrack has been remastered too, and while it is great, some purists seems to dislike it - but worry not for you can choose between classic and remastered bgm from the option menu.

Hint: To not ruin your experience after finishing FFX, abstain yourself from playing X-2.
Some things are better left alone.
