Pros:
Pretty

Dodge roll

WASD movement

Voice acting

Level design

Cons:

It hasn't given me the currency stash pages I purchased in PoE 1, which it should have, as I understand it.

You shouldn't need a PHD in buildology to beat the normal campaign, but you do. I had to stop and get myself over-leveled at various points to have any hope at killing a few of the bosses, and enlist help from sweaty PoE1 nerd friends to help me revamp my build because some skill gems are basically written in another language (looking at you, Cast of Shock, I read the description like 8 times and it straight up doesn't make sense without full explanations of 10 different terms).

Bosses have two times more HP than is necessary/fun.

Mobs shoot me from off screen but my lightning only goes 2/3 of my screen (c'mon its lightning).

Ascendancies for Elementalist Sorc aren't impactful at all, its a huge pain in the ass to get the points, and a huge let down once you finally do. None of the big nodes on the passive tree felt really impactfull, either.

No real movement skills, and base move speed is really really really slow. The game just feels really slow in general and gets boring quite often. Move speed never rolls on boots, I bricked like 30 pairs of boots and never saw it.

Gear and currency drop rates in the campaign are WAY too low. I didn't get a single upgrade in the entirety of Act 3, despite stopping to farm for gear and levels, and spending most of my currency trying to craft. People keep saying it gets easier when you get to cruel, (which is backwards from how it should work) but that's not true if you're still wearing the same ♥♥♥♥ you were half way through Act 2 normal.

The 2nd half of act 3 requires 2 loading screens every time you want to go back to town, and 2 more loading screens to get back to your level, which is really obnoxious.

In general it's a really bad new player experience, totally lacking explanations of... basically everything.

This feels like a game that doesn't want to grow it's player base, and just cater to it's existing fans. I'll check back in after it's out of early access, because it has good bones... but for now it's mostly just frustrating.

I guess since I have 800 hours into this game now, I should probably review it. Everything about this game is perfect besides the mist. I hate the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mist.

Best boss design ever in a shooter. Puts Destiny and The Division to shame in that category. Excellent puzzles, responsive and fun gunplay, tons of unique feeling weapons, excellent character progression, really can't think of anything they could do to make it better except adding more content. Not that it's really lacking in that department.

I've run into 2 game breaking bugs in the first 2 hours of 2 separate play files. First one, I passed a persuasion check and it went to the previous dialog and got stuck. Couldn't save, couldn't ext, couldn't move forward or click anything. Had to Alt+F4 and lost half an hour. Started another game because I wanted to try another class and after 2 hours I realized the Cross Save Syncing thing was spinning in the top left and I was unable to save. So I lost about an hour of play time. Doesn't look like the game was ready for release yet.

This game has the best foundation in the world for a looter shooter and everything else about it is terrible. It's sad, really. Despite it all, I'd still play if every bit of content wasn't parceled out separately so you have to pay for each individual thing. Bungie is Bungle now.

Edit: Remember when they said Eververse was only to pay for live service, to keep everything flowing out to us... and then they still charge crazy amounts for tiny updates that don't even include all the content. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ liars.

Update: The pricing is still super scummy.

Update 2: The pricing is still super scummy, at this point I hope Bungie just folds so I don't have to be sad every time they release something.

This has definitely been a really rough launch. The game wasn't ready. When it works, though, the gameplay feels really good. It needs crafting finished, some balancing, some game/matchmaking features, and to take a few notes from Vermintide systems and it will be a great Warhammer game. It would go a long way for now if they would offer some good cosmetics for in-game earnable currency (all the current ones are just recolors of the basic skins you earn from leveling), and try to get a custom game mode in ASAP/rebalance the weekly missions (25 games @ 20-30m a piece is a lot, 6 secondary objectives on X map is impossible), etc.

Long story short, there's a good game here and they'll get it there like they did Vermintide. It's not there now, though. It would be worth full price if it was done, for now, I'd say wait for a sale.

I would tentatively reccomend this game to players that aren't hardcore fans of the Final Fantasy series.

I'm quite a few hours in and I haven't learned ♥♥♥♥ about the lore or world, or really any meaningful character development. This is whats really killing me. This is nothing like older FFs, it feels like a complete departure from the spirit of the game, story-telling-wise. I don't necessarily think it's a bad game, it plays well. It's just not a final fantasy game.

If you're a fan of the jrpg genre, this may not be what you're really looking for.

I've been checking in on this game (3-5 hrs/patch) for a long time now.

For a small team, they keep the updates coming pretty regularly.

I don't think its quite there as far as really regular playability (as of 07/26/2017) but it's getting closer and closer.

9/3/2018 - Edit: Kind of quit playing for a long time. Updates moved to the small experiences thingy, so not much to do. I like that there's a timeline and that they're hiring more people, this will probably warrant a reinstall soonish.

The game doesn't end when you beat it. User made content is awesome. Making maps is just as much fun.
