Played it mostly on non-Steam version. Doom is all the rage when it comes to boomer shooters but, Marathon definitely deserves the same respect as it has plot (although, given only through text which is expected from game of that time) and far more interesting weapon sandbox which makes you regularly use its entirety.

Constantly crashes. It crashed/froze three times before I could finally start my first run only to find out that it'll run only at bellow 30 fps. I'm on an old laptop (Ryzen 2500U w/ Vega 8, 8GB RAM @ 2400Mhz, SSD) but, I can play MGSV:GZ at stable 30 fps on it on minimal settings and can have 50-60 fps in Team Fortress 2 on mid-low settings. Why Thousand Threads doesn't run smoothly is beyond me.

Imagine spending more time disassembling and reassembling virtual firearms then playing a proper single-player game. Well, I don't have to cause, I've actually done this.

Among the best tacFPS games you can experience. Updates come out at slow pace but always slap. With soon addition of mod support it'll get even better.

I tried this game because I was interested in Cold War era vehicles like BMPs, UH-1s, F-18s and Mig-29s but also, I hoped to see tech-tree of pickups with garage-mounted heavy weapons. The former are behind massively tall grind-wall and borderline unplayable when finally unlocked due to repair and rearmament costs and, the later aren't present in the game in the first place. From what I've heard the grind got only worse hence, the recent review bombing.

This game monetization model sucks just like with most f2p games. WT would have been much better if it was monetized via monthly subscription or paid expansions and didn't have massive grind walls.

By itself Destiny 2 is a good game with deep and fun PvP and PvE. It is game as a service and has plenty of content to keep you playing but, to fully experience it, e.g. completing every weekly activity including temporary once for each of three character slots, you'll have to abandon every other game unless you have infinite amount of free time.

(I'd give it a mixed rating if Steam allowed me to do so)

A nice turn based tactics game with a good music and sounds.
It's a bit hard to get into but once you did pulling off successfull raids without losing a single operator is very satisfying.
Surprisingly replayable (like you didn't guess by my playtime) due to randomization of objective location and enemy/civilians placements.

Couldn't launch the game due to error: "Error encountered while signing into Xbox Live"
Tried multiple things but nothing worked. The game might be missing the junk from Microsoft that I've removed from my PC for right reasons. If you want to play compaigns the game still requires you to log into XBox Live thus issue persists.

บทวิจารณ์ระหว่างการพัฒนา
Zero Hour is an immersive tactical FPS game with PvP and PvE modes focused on Close Quaters Combat (CQB further). The following review shall cover purely PvE mode.

Review is valid for the game version 9.1.1

Overview
Zero Hour's gameplay is rather slow paced. You cannot sprint for a long periods of time and normal movement speed is on the slow side even when set to fastest. However you don't feel like being artificially slowed down. The movement pace in the game is the one that you'd naturally want to take in ZH's environment. Character is slow to enter Aim Down Sights mode which I don't like. There is no health regen and the players are allowed to make only couple of mistakes before death. On the other hand, as of current, enemies drop from only two 5.56 rounds to the chest. You are not forced to dispose of enemies lethaly and can arrest them instead although there are very few non-leathal tools in ZH. Maps feel claustrophobic and unnerving.

Gunplay and guns
ZH like most modern games uses shooting model where spread is represented through recoil. In simple words bullets will always hit at where your weapon is pointed even when spraying in full-auto. As I've mentioned in overview section guns are pretty deadly and can kill AIs with two hits to the chest provided the correct round is used. Unfortunately I can rate this aspect only at 3/5 and bellow is why.

On some weapons kick anymation seems off to me. When firing weapon buttstock tilts down too far as if character doesn't push weapon into his shoulder at all. Weapons kick back and returns to target linearly at roughly the same speed when it should sharply kick back and smoothly return to target. M4 in particular suffers from this. On almost all weapons casing are ejected from the gun at very low speed that clearly doesn't match one in real life.

Suppressed gunshot sounds are lacking sometimes. For example local AK74 type rifle outiftted with suppressor when shot produces very nice and sharp sound with distinct supersonic crack. Meanwhile supressed M4 type rifle sounds outright ugly.

Many accesorry models have incorrect scale. For example you can clearly see how tiny EOTech is at the third screenshot on the game's steam page. Some accesorries like supressor look weird and nothing like any you see in real life.

Recoil strenght sometimes do not match the round used by the weapon. For example intermediate caliber weapons like M4/AK74 have a noticable random element in their recoil. In particular when firing rapidly in semi-auto random shot in the string would deviate a lot to the right. Contrary to that SCAR-H that uses full-size rifle round have very consistent upward kick making it a lot more controlable than intermediate caliber weapons.

Overall this aspect is far from bad but here games from neighbour subgenres (e.g Groud Branch, Insurgency) are superior. Unfortunate 3.5/5.

(On the side note I'd really like to be able to lower my weapon like I constantly do in Ground Branch to not flag my teammates.)

Movement
Not much to cover here. As it has been said in overview it nicely fits the pace you'd want to take when traversing ZH's environment. You can incrementally change speed with mousewheel and you can sprint albeit not for long. Also you can crouch, crawl and lean to the sides. Solid movement mechanics and a standard set you've grown to expect from tacFPS. Also you can repel buildings with grappling hook like in R6 Siege.

Unrated.

Environments and their traversal
Usually certain things in games like doorframes are purposefully oversized to make environments easier to navigate for players and AI. In ZH things like these are modeled in natural scale to make environment feel immersive and hostile. Map layouts are complex usually taaking place in multiple story building with lots of rooms. The important feature of ZH that placement of certain objects on maps is randomly generated every match. Doors can be generated to be locked or open. Some paths may become barricaded with furniture. Rooms might become more complex to clear by algorithm's whim due to addition cover for enemies like beds and closets. Objectives, hostages and hostile AIs are also subjects to randomness. All of it together makes ZH a lot more replayable every time capturing that feeling of unease when clearing rooms. Also to make use of night vision devises which on my memory are one of the best we've seen in videogames electricity on the map can be turned off.

Speaking of locked doors the game has advanced breaching mechanics. Doors can be incrementaly opened, kicked open, breached with shotgun or C2 charges. Unfortunatly rules regarging utilities like afformentioned C2 charges are consistent with those in PvP mode. That means that you can not take more than two utilities which include numerous types of grenades breaching charges, underdoor cameras and even night vision googles. Another and the last con is that on some maps rooms look to similar to one another which makes it very easy to get lost.

Still 4/5 points on this.

Developer's support, optimization and graphics.
According to Steam ZH is the first game of a small indie team so don't set your expectation high. That to be said the game still receives bug-fixes and decent content updates with new guns, maps and game mechanics. That to be said again the game had a glaring desync issues in coop mode with two players not seeing the same enemies year after its release that thankfully seem to have been fixed in recent update.

Graphics and artstyle are decent for indie game.

So far, I can not give precise opinion on optimization. On one hand ZH seem to have fully dynamic lighting, lots of objects placed at runtime (I assume that's how random generation works in this game) instead of being compilied into the map, built with Unreal Engine 4 which is known to be harsh on indie devs and all of it while being run on old ass overclocked 750Ti. On the other hand there are games like Ground Branch and Insurgency: Sandstorm which also use UE4 and run much better on my rig. Also in ZH most action takes place in close quaters which means that there aren't that many objects on screen.

Unrated.

Conclusion
Solid challenging FPS game with distinct aproach to close quarters combat. It has some issues but it also have immersive gameplay with lots of potential to become even better. Currently the game is only 10EU without discounts and even less if you live in some poophole like I do, so feel free to give it a try even for full price.
