Ya know, I honestly don't get all the negative beef this game got. It's pretty damn good. Yeah, it's definitely not like any other ANNO game, but if you can get over that, it's great. The streamlining is much appreciated because in 2070 the quests got super stale, and this made getting through them much faster. Also the buildings look great and balancing all the sectors was pretty cool. Took me till phase 3 to figure out how to rotate ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ buildings though which was a little whack, haha. But honestly, I'm really enjoying it thus far and I think it's my favorite of the franchise. I wish we could see more future stuff, the different environments is really neat and keeps the game interesting.

Honestly, pretty solid if not somewhat basic, gameplay. The sniping challenges are fairly fun, and it's like untangling a puzzle, if you try to stay quiet and not set off any alarms. Decent stealth action. NGL, even Veteran mode was a bit easy, but still offered enough of a challenge to be relaxing, but not boring.

I wouldn't pick this up full price, definitely a great grab on sale though!

Ya know...I've never logged SO MANY hours in a game that has SO MUCH going against it.

Overall it can be summed up with:

"It has systems that go a mile wide, but an inch deep."

Very ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ true. It's amazing seeing all the different worlds and how so many feel so different and the animals all look different, or at least reskinned differently. But then, every single area that is worth visiting like every Abandoned Mining Operation or Deserted Relay Station or Muybridge Pharmaceutical Lab, is laid out EXACTLY the same way. Like 1 map, 1 config for everything.

Have the devs not heard of procedural generation? Can we not have at least 3-4 different layouts? Or some sort of dynamic reconfiguration happening? Because every building/"map" is identical down to where the props are!

Hell, with the Abandoned Muybridge Pharmaceutical Lab, if you go explore in the cave, you'll find Scott Muybridge's corpse in EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. How is this man's body on every planet in every cave, in the exact same spot??

And this kind of thing makes the game feel hella rushed. Which is wild, because its been in development for SEVEN YEARS. Yet it feels like maybe 2, or 3 at this point.

Having made 3D models for games and other game assets and worked in a game dev pipeline before, I get it. It's hard. Even making a single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gun model can take weeks. If you're on the clock 8-10 hours a day, maybe all week long. For ONE gun. That's not including testing it in the game-engine and rigging it. Just modelling and texturing.

I get how much work it can all be, but damn. It might've been taking on more than you guys could chew, and to be fair, there's a reason why a lot of games do not take on outer space or a galaxy, due to the sheer exponential increase in volume of playable surfaces and maps required is absurd.

With Skyrim and Fallout, you could stick to a sectioned off area of the world, a relatively finite map.

However, I feel like this could've been helped with some procedural generation big time. Procedurally generated and configured dungeons would've added SO much to the depth that this game wants to offer.

There's so much this game has to offer, that makes me wanna get hooked to it, and has caused me to invest 193 hours at the time of this review, that I still greatly enjoy, but at this point...it's getting tough to keep wanting to play because of how boringly repetitive all the things are.

I really enjoy all the systems, like shipbuilding and weapon modding and outpost building and research. So cool. The stealth is really neat and not just about get the Rank 4 stealth skill and crouch. There's so much more to it.

Don't get me wrong, this game has a wide variety of things to offer, and that in it of itself can take a lot to explore and try out. But not a lot of dynamism or depth.

Im level 57 and I can already clear every single dungeon type with my eyes closed. Literally. The mobs are always in the same spots more or less. I know where to look and just huck grenades and can zero in on each spot, and kill the mob before the damn thing has a chance to blink at this point. And I can do it all almost all from one spot, with the right long range weaponry and mods.

This is just ONE gripe.

Out of many.

So many things in this game are like this.

And hey listen, it wouldn't be a Bethesda game if there weren't a few goofy bugs, amirite? That part I can live with, in fact it makes me laugh, but goodness.

...there's a LOT left to fill out, and I don't think the dev team was prepared for how much depth is required to not make this game feel shallow and played out.

I was lucky that I got this game from the AMD CPU cross-promo bundle and didn't have to pay for it directly.

$120 CAD for this game in its current state of replayability, depth and overall bugginess is highway robbery.

Go get Cyberpunk 2077 and the new expansion. Or Baldur's Gate 3.

At first, this game was throwing way too many names of fictional places and characters like i'm supposed to care, just right out of context and I was like "yaa this is ultra-nerd ♥♥♥♥" and just went with it. But tbh, it's one of those storylines that makes more sense as you go along and connects the dots in reverse a bit.

The gameplay is really engaging and there's so many fighting styles and ways to play the game. I wish there were more possibilities for customization and more weapon variations and upgrades, but aside from that, it was honestly just fine, and great to play with. I found the set bonuses were fun to pair up, and get the half-set bonus for two sets was usually the best combo.

Either way, if you want a hype-AF spacefighter shooter and some wildly challenging combat (in some parts, holy ♥♥♥♥ lol) and a really cool take on the sci-fi space genre that we don't see a lot of, Chorus is your game. It's absolutely a wild and unique ride worth the $45 CAD price tag.

REally great to see the old game restored and remastered. Brings back a lot of memories and its super fun to play again without feeling so painfully dated, haha.

Excellent gameplay, engaging enough story, graphics are fun, and really unique game mechanics. It's like RTS and 4X had a baby, and named it Northgard. So solid and addicting. Dive right in, you won't regret it!

Its too easy to die and sometimes the jump puzzles are annoyingly simple and too easy to ♥♥♥♥ up like 50 times. But game looks great and is actually fun despite all the dying.
