Early Access Review
Not recommended: Maybe someday it will be a complete product and i'll be able to change my review. But taking this long to make so little notable progress, just isn't good enough.

The Good:
+ Great atmosphere and the Nemesis feels relentless at times.
+ Level design is strong with plenty of reasons to explore to find new ammo, weapon upgrades and more.
+ The soundtrack is far more present then it was in Resident Evil 2's remake. Which for this games more action oriented approach worked extremely well.
+ The zombies still feel great to shot, albeit not as good as in Resident Evil 2's remake (see below for more info).
+ Both leads (Jill and Carlos) are likeable characters, and one even has an ark. The side characters are also are enjoyable enough in there roles and the story is likewise solid.
+ The graphics here are absolutely stunning, and the redesign of the Nemesis and it's various mutations is gruesomely great.
+ The included Resident Evil Resistance multiplayer game is decent, albiet not incredible fun. It could be expanded on and become something special, though I doubt this will happen. A nice addition none the less.

The Bad:
- The arsenal of weapons you get is rather limited and it would have been nice for an extra weapon or two show up.
- The amount of ammo (in particular grenades) can make some parts of the game a little easier then I think was intended.
- Some minor clipping issues with zombie arms, along with other enemies appendages clipping through doors. This was also in the Resident Evil 2 remake, and it is a shame that it remains here.
- The lack of additional game modes within the main game itself is disappointing.

The Mixed:
-/+ There is no way around it, whilst there is still item management and the like, ammo is plentiful and the game is far more focused on action as opposed to the survival horror of Resident Evil 2's remake. I was fine with this but i'm sure it will not be to everyone's tastes.
-/+ Many have reported a short playtime. My first playthrough was around 8.5 hours and I missed several items and the like. Overall it was only around one hour shorter then my first playthrough of Resident Evil 2's remake.
-/+ The game is more of a loose adaptation of Resident Evil 3, as opposed to a remake. Meaning many elements you may have loved from the original will not be present here. If that is not what you are after this may be something that leads to disappointment.

The Good:
+ The gameplay is polished and extremely enjoyable.
+ Each level has it's own unique spin, in one level you will be mostly focused on navigating a dangerous underground area full of explosions, the next fighting of the combine whilst solving some minor puzzles, the next avoiding a powerfull enemy and so on.
+ The sense of being there is fantastic, with this being easily alongside Lone Echo being the best looking VR game. In particular the lighting looks absolutely fabulous.
+ The story whilst smaller in scale is not a game that can be simply skipped before the next Half-Life release (assuming it happens).
+ The game focuses on style that is more atmospheric and horror which feels very suitable for the series in vr.
+ The characters whilst not given a large amount of screen time are likeable with good and enjoyable dialogue between them.

The Bad:
- This may be a hardware issue (I used the oculus rift cv1) but I found my hands would sometimes get caught in the environment more then i'm use to in other vr games.
- The game took me around 9 hours to complete. Which I was completely satisfied with, but some will possibly find it a bit shorter then they would expect for a new half-life game.

If you have VR this is a must play game. If you do not have VR it is another strong reason to consider a headset moving forward.

The Good:
+ The felling of being in the Arkham game universe is fantastic. For example I thoroughly enjoyed seeing characters like The Penguin as if it was in person. Though if you are not a fan of Batman or the Arkham games this may be lost on you.
+ The mechanics that are present work well, especially moving through a crime scene with what happened by rotating your wrist left and right.
+ The story whilst somewhat undermined by the finale is engaging while it lasts.

The Bad:
- Whilst the mechanics are solid they are not very fleshed out with the game felling more like a demo then a full release.
- The biggest issue, and outside of a massive discount (see 90% or more) makes the game something I could not recommend is the short play time. It should take most around 40 minutes to playthrough the game. After which there are Riddler "puzzles" to find by playing through the campaign again. Which even if you do decide to do will not make up for the complete and utter lack of content here.
- The placement of the three tools can be somewhat awkward, and I found myself often grabbing the wrong item often. This was especially the case when trying to grab a batarang.

What is here is enjoyable, but it feels more like a proof of concept. A proof of concept I would very much so like to see extended upon into a full game. But what is here is simply not worth the asking price and I could only recommend it on a very large discount (think 90% off or more). Hopefully we get a full Batman VR experience, there is plenty of potential as this release clearly shows.

The Good:
+ This game has a very nice visual style and mostly runs wonderfully.
+ The felling of shooting is solid.

The Bad:
- Whilst how shooting feels good, the weapon variety is lacking. Dual wielding helps a little, but even this is let down (see below).
- The core mechanics of the game seems to want you running around gunning, which is the most enjoyable way to play the game. However the way the levels are designed and where enemies are placed rewards playing this game like a cover shooter. Which is not at all enjoyable and there is a strong clash between how the core mechanics of your movement and gun output, and how the levels are designed. Meaning the dual wielding that was very enjoyable in The New Order was something I found myself doing minimally here.
- There is a lack of variety in enemies, which when combined with the above poor placement of the small roster results in what become repetitive and dull combat encounters.
- The story is beyond horrendously bad with unlikeable one note characters and no regards for consistency. This may not be a huge issue as many great shooters have horrid stories. But the story is not only likely far worse here, but it makes up well over half the time it will take to playthrough the game. Think of an older person trying to write what is cool and hip with the young kids of the day, and how cringey that usually is. This is one of the best examples of that, and it is just dreadful.
- Speaking of which, there is a complete lack of content here with the game taking around 6 hours to complete, which given half of that is spent in terrible cutscenes (some of which are unskippable) that leaves only around 3 hours of gameplay. This I remind everyone was not some budget spin off, this was the next big full game in the Wolfenstein series, the series that started the first person shooter genre.

I found The New Order to be a surprisingly strong shooter, and The Old Blood whilst not quite as good to be a strong budget release. The New Colossus however was anything but, and is one of the bigger disappointments in recent memory. I hope they can get back on track for a third game, but this game, I could not recommend to anyone.

The Good:
+ The game had potential during development.
+ Environments whilst technically not amazing, have a very nice sense of style.
+ The weapons/magic are solid to use, and whilst nothing amazing are for a short period, decently fun to use.

The Bad:
- The gameplay despite the decent weaponry is quite boring as
- Most enemies simply running directly at the player with little to no other tactic. The ai is simply horrid with enemies often also getting stuck in the environment.
- Furthermore to try and pad out a short game the later parts of the game just throw ridiculous amounts of enemies at you.
- As mention above, the game has very little content. It was meant to have 30 levels, and the devs abandoned the game with only six levels completed, and even within those levels the later levels in particular feel unfinished with the devs just packing them with huge numbers of enemies as mention above. Resulting in the game becoming more boring as it goes on.
- Enemy animations are horrible.
- Game lacks basic expected features on pc. Only up to 1080p is supported for example in resolution.

With all the other options for old school shooters there is little reason to play this low content, lazy, abandoned and quite clearly unfinished game. I strongly do no recommend.

The Positive:
+ Grappling to different locations feels good, especially as you get to higher waves and have to do this to escape from enemies and dodge environmental hazards.
+ A nice albeit unremarkable selection of guns.
+ I like how the map changed around you after each wave.

The Negatives:
- A.I seems brain dead and simply stands and shoots at you, or runs directly at you. Not a deal breaker, but something more could have been done.
- A lack of different enemy types.
- The lack of content. Whilst the map does change, and there is an adequate number of weapons. The combo of the one changing map with so few enemies even at the budget price this game sells for feels like there isn't enough content for the price.
- PC release is not up to standard. No in game options to turn of vsync, or uncap the frame rate (I om locked at 60) and beyond that, even 60 doesn't feel great in this game. Almost as if there is a microstutter ever present. Which is the real killer of this release.

The Mixed:
-/+ Shooting enemies doesn't strictly feel bad, but it also doesn't feel particularly good either. Adequate but unremarkable. Which is a notable issue when such a large portion of the game is shooting enemies.
