First off, I love The Finals. I don’t usually get hooked by many of the big FPS games, but The Finals got me. It has such creative gameplay that lets me do super fun things, perfectly fitting my brain wrinkles.

So, why don’t I recommend it?

The biggest issue for me is how the game is balanced. It used to feel more like a rock-paper-scissors system. If someone was using an annoying weapon or gadget, I could switch to something that countered it, and I loved that style of balancing.

But now, the game has fallen into a cycle of, “Oh, that’s a bit too strong—let’s just nerf it. Oh, and this? And this too? Yeah, nerf those as well.” As a result, the game feels more like, “Okay, what’s the meta?” instead of, “What fun thing can I use to counter their meta?”

I’ll happily change my review to a positive one if I feel the balancing shifts back to focusing on fun rather than simply nerfing anything that seems too strong.
