PC port has some kinks that need working out, but it's still a great game. Give it a shot!

A cute, fun as hell 3D platformer. (It's a bit short, though. Took me about 9 hours to get all the Time Pieces, but I've also heard people take around 15 so mileage may vary.) Plus, they're adding more chapters/modes in the future FOR FREE. Buy this if you like fun.

(The time up there's not entirely accurate, I've since picked up the Definitive Edition on PS4.)

Alright, now that the inner Devil May Cry fanboy's quelled, let's get to the game.

OVERVIEW

DmC's a solid hack and slash game that should prove entertaining for both newcomers to the genre and grizzled Dante Must Die veterans. With a meaty combat system and plenty of content to chew on, the game should last quite a while.

STORY

Admittedly, the story's a weak point for the game. While it's definitely got some good moments, the first few missions don't do much but make the player wonder why they have to play as this douchey, punk version of Dante. (He gets better later, I promise.)

GAMEPLAY

Hey, the part that matters in a hack and slash! While the lack of lock-on is rather off-putting for a series vet, the combat system is fluid and flashy. Switching between Angel/Devil weapons mid-combo is really satisfying, and weaving through enemy attacks never feels too daunting. Starting out, Dante's limited to a few different sword swings and gunshots. By end-game, Dante'll have a wide variety of moves to choose from, and they carry over in future playthroughs.

PRESENTATION

The game definitely nails the darker, edgy tone it seems to be going for, with some intense tracks and messed up looking enemies. (Some of the bosses are kiiinda nasty.) The switch from the regular world to Limbo is always fun to watch, and the levels always change in a fun way. Shout out to Bob Barbas, my absolute favorite part of the game.

TL;DR

Don't be offput by the DMC outrage, I really enjoy this game. It's certainly got a few faults, like the lack of lock-on and the irritating enemies that can only be hit by one kind of attack, but it's an overall good time. Hell, even the puns grow on you.

(A lot of the problems I have with the game were fixed with the re-release on PS4, so if you've got one of those it might be worth grabbing that version instead. Don't worry if you don't, the game's still solid on PC.)

Mega Man Legacy Collection is a great way to replay (or play for the first time!) the NES megaman games. For the uninitiated, Mega Man is a platformer where you try to beat the boss at the end of each stage to take their power. You can then use said power to quickly dispatch whatever boss is weak to that power. I don't notice the input lag other reviews are talking about, but that might just be me. The challenge mode is really fun, (and CHALLENGING. Gold is hard to get.) and you can listen to the soundtrack for all 6 games. Pick it up if you're a Mega Man fan or want to give it a try.

Brick/Brick would punch things to death while screaming/laughing again.
