I have owned this game for many years, always got frustrated and stopped playing due to the steep learning curve, I knew it would stick one day and it finally did. Huge CK3 fan, and now I'm a HOI4 fan. Once you get somewhat familiar with the systems the game gets fun.

As a self taught software engineer, there was always a lot of mystery to me how we use 1's and 0's to do everything under the sun. From Youtube videos to games and excel. I finally feel like I'm getting a peek into that answer while having a blast doing it! Turing Complete is a masterpiece. It holds your hand just enough, once the logic gates start to click, the sky is the limit!

The amount of pride I have that I am currently writing assembly on an 8 bit CPU that I designed is HUGE!

There are some serious issues with the UI at the moment, and I hope they continue to get addressed, there are bugs that have existed for years and year, but overall there is something magical about the emergent gameplay that is dwarf fortress.

Would love to see them hire on some more developers to help flesh things out faster.
