Edit a few days later: I have a better TLDR than the one originally written.
This mod presents some good ideas, has some actually great music, and shows a great mind behind the project. The execution was lackluster, but that doesn't mean the ideas within this were all awful.
I still don't personally recommend you play FTT, but to the dev;

please know this is coming from another creative. Our first projects suck, that's how it goes. This showed some really great ideas in that head of yours, and as long as you keep training your skills and improving as a developer, I hope to see some seriously awesome stuff come from you.

-- BELOW THIS LINE IS THE ACTUAL REVIEW I LEFT A FEW DAYS AGO

I was taking bullet-point notes and was going to extend them into a longer review, but there's enough bullet points I'll just post those. That should suffice, right?

tldr is this feels more like a poor-quality tech demo rather than any sort of polished product; if this person got on a team after improving their skills and worked on a proper mod, i feel like some of the mechanics in FTT could go somewhere, but what i just played by itself was not an enjoyable experience.

It also felt a little gross because it felt like it was being made/written on the fly - random mechanics show up for a tiny bit and some don't show up again later after their introduction.

some of these bullet points are spoilery ig

Softlock count: 2

- poorly mismashed p1/p2 textures
- ai cave johnson
- ai glados
- ai narrator guy
- ai wheatley
- poor puzzle lighting, resulting in information being hard to get at times
- new-aperture tech where it doesn't belong (Why are funnels and modern turrets in old Aperture?)
- New mechanics that are not well-introduced, explained, or acknowledged.
- Generally unhelpful lighting
- Full-on waste-of-time deadends in the "backstage" sections.
- Half-Life 2 assets? Really? I already wasn't happy with the out-of-place-as-♥♥♥♥ Portal 1 assets.
- Way too much precision for way too little guidance.
- Nauseating overuse of the world-shake effect.
- Nonsensical lighting, effects and level design.
- Generic "Easy level? Nope! Time to go backstage!" fakeout
- Warped textures
- They took the paint gun from Aperture Tag. You know, beloved mod among the likes of Revolution and Stories: Mel. That Aperture Tag.
- We just went to a Portal 1 map.. why? Portal 2 had a REASON for it, you know.
- Oh, so we're pulling gimmicks out of our asses now? First the paint gun, now just the Gravity Gun (but way buggier)? Really?
- "hey find a disc in a maze"
- "hey find your next gimmick in a maze" (It fizzles things. How and why is this a mechanic.)
- Random gman appearance??? Are you doing ♥♥♥♥ just because????
- Fully portal 1 asset chambers? Why?? It doesn't fit in the P2 style at all..
- How and why is this taking place alongside Wheatley's takeover in P2
- The same test chamber over and over with different "modifiers" until you figure out how to leave the loop would've been interesting. If one of those modifiers wasn't immensely nauseating.
- Gimmick #4 (That's being extremely generous) is a time manipulation gun.
- Why are the Backrooms here? I wish I was joking.
- Underwhelming boss fight followed by a sour ending.

That was a MOD? For FREE? Bro.

Portal: Revolution is one of the greatest story mods I've ever played, for any game. The whole thing felt official and polished, and was clearly crafted by a team who cared.

The mechanics the mod introduces feel organic and right at home in the sandbox, the characters were fun and engaging, the visuals were consistently stunning, you name it, I loved it. Every single aspect of this mod was definitely built from-the-ground-up for true Portal fans.

So whether it's your first venture into Portal mods, or yet another in a long line, Revolution is a must-play. So please do.

After having put it off for a long time, I finally gave Outer Wilds a shot. And God, am I glad I did. I'm gonna start this review by parroting everyone else and saying the tried-and-true advice for this game:

Go. In. Blind. and Don't. Look. Anything. Up.

With that said..

The number one lesson here is "The journey is what matters", and it holds true. This game subverts numerous expectations and keeps players on their toes in unique and interesting ways, from every line of dialogue or reading having some sort of purpose, to there being multiple ways to approach certain problems, if you're stubborn enough.

I started this game focused on "Okay, let's get this over with so people stop telling me I have to play it", and left this game "Man, I wish I could have a first time with this game again". It truly is one of few games where replay-ability isn't really an option, because if you remember the ending solution, what's the point in wandering around as if you don't know it? Sure, you could learn more about everything, but holding the answer right in front of you and choosing not to do it just feels wrong.

I really don't know how much I can say without accidentally spoiling something, knowing me. Just know this.
Tread lightly if you're on the internet looking at stuff related to the game, if you haven't completed it as much as you feel comfortable with. Beat the game, gather all the info you want, THEN look online. No earlier. Trust me.

See you starside, hatchling.

I'm a massive advocate for games doing a full 180 from a lackluster release. No Man's Sky, Fallout 76, and this are notable examples of that.

CP2077 has made a complete reparation from its release, and it's in a better state than ever to jump into enjoyable gameplay, a phenomenal story and a fantastic world. I am blown away by the new things I'm finding and learning constantly, and it's only made me more and more interested in the Cyberpunk universe, and it's all thanks to this masterpiece of a game.

Early Access Review
Fast-paced chaos and Dante's Inferno combined with Devil May Cry, with a sprinkling of shooting coins, robots, and lots of blood.

Seriously one of my all-time favorite games. Please, God, play it, I beg of you.

Atrociously bad game. Hated every second of it. Didn't keep me engaged at all, only kept playing because my boyfriend was there.

I adored every second of this game.
Does it seem like it'd be an official product of SEGA's? Hell no.
I think that's why it has the charm it does - it's so.. wild. And for FREE?!??!! Come on. Pick it up. Do it. Now. Yes, you.
