Pretty good demo giving a taste of what early access Rodina is like. Beautiful dynamic soundtrack, bare graphics but gripping sci-fi story (the narrative of the couple in separate pods, with the husband being captured while the hidden wife was watching, got me hooked in wanting to know more right off the bat). The twitchy ship control took a short while to get to grips with but after that I found myself making perfect landings and fighting a swarm of enemies without trouble. In a way, it reminded me of "OPUS: The Day We Found Earth" from Team Signal on Android (which I thoroughly enjoyed) but with deeper story telling, ship customisation and combat currently (with plans for NPC dialogue, ship boarding and settlements).

In the 2hr 17min that my demo play-through lasted, I managed to upgrade my ship a couple of times, find tons of missiles in abandoned crates, which came in handy in taking down enemies and discovered a plethora of POI's which progressed the story. Once "4th gear" was found, it led me to my first huge planet with atmosphere (burned twice on re-entry until I figured out how to land, again!). On the surface (huge!) were a lot more of place-holders for more focused story progression, enemy patrols and caches of loot which, having not had the time limit of the demo kick in, would have loved to had explored.

All in all Rodina entertained me more in a couple hours than No Man's Land did in days, which by itself says a lot. I would certainly recommend Rodina, even though it is quite bare currently. If all that is promised is included, it would be well worthy of it's price tag.

Having finished Van Helsing in Heroic Hardcore with melee orientated setup, I can only say that it has been a worthy and enjoyable fill to my Diablo 2 addiction. The Blue Blood DLC helped a lot to clear up later levels which previously I found too hard (completed it by only reaching lvl28). Single playthrough took about 35 hours completing about 75% of achievements (could have been higher but gave up on achievements after aiming for the "But they are so cute! one by not killing any Igors at all, until the very end when one died by accident having forgotten to switch Katarina to ethereal). Enjoyed the good graphics, very funny dialogue and a lot of action. My only disapointment was the let down felt once completed, with only a 30sec cinematic ending the game.

TL;DR: I would highly recommend "The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing" to anyone that is a fan of Diablo 2 type of games or anyone looking for an action/ hack and slash rpg adventure.

Having finished Van Helsing in Heroic Hardcore with melee orientated setup, I can say that the Blue Blood DLC helped a lot to clear up later levels which previously I found too hard. The extra boost given felt like Katarina was on steroids and made a huge difference (managed to complete it by only reaching lvl28!!). I found the way to my survival being using her as a secondary tank and then ethereal her once low on health, while in the meantime I was enjoying watching my damage being mitigated onto her in the middle of huge mobs (use ethereal embodiment trick when overwhelmed).

TL;DR: Highly recommended DLC to anyone wanting to complete the game in Heroic Hardcore mode as quickly as possible without dying all the time.

I'll spare you repeating what others have already voiced a mutlitude of times the past few months about Elite:Dangerous. Just take a look at the waning ratings and decide for yourself.

I personally used to be a strong advocate of ED but the lack of progress, the overcharging by Frontier in regard to content and the aggressive attitude of sensoring criticism, has soured the whole experience to the point of ruining one of my most loved childhood games ever.

Don't get me wrong, the eye candy is there and I love it; but there is little else to do besides non-stop repeatable grind, impossible npc's, confusing power-playing and silly missions. This weekend I flew for over 3hrs on my Viper MkIV for just one!! mission around (used to be popular) Cubeo and for the first time I did not encounter a single player. A reflective fact of a dwindling and unhappy player base.

I don't know what Frontier is planning to do next but I, like most, have lost confidence in their delivering the promised content and certainly would not be buying anything else off them.

To new and willing players, I would recommend to buy ED only if there is a big sale on, for the experience. There are much better alternatives out there and I would personally wait for NMS or Star Citizen to fill in the itching gap. In the least RSI show good communication and respect to their player base, which in return makes me wanna spend more in supporting them (in addition to my 325 and Freelancer already)

And just in case, please note that I have a lot more hours invested in ED outside of steam, as I was an early adopter as well (GpT E:D[postimg.org]). Very dissapointed.

As an educational tool this gets top marks. Noble Engineering have done an outstanding job in presenting even the smalest of parts in their WoG. Seeing the inner workings of a gun after a complete field dis/assembly step by step, was an eye opener and very educational. There is much potential to this tool and the presentation options when seeing past the subject of guns. Personally, I would prefer a choice of different subjects at the beginning to choose from, not just guns, due to being on principle against guns and the violence they bring but I cannot fault the way they are presented in such detail and functionality overall. Looking forward to discovering what else Noble Engineering has in stock for the future.

Brilliant atmospheric design, a story that unfolds with each screen explored and puzzles that make sense, not overly difficult but based on logic.

The Swapper is a little gem of an indie sci-fi puzzle platformer, which coupled with the low purchase price of the steam summer sale, was a must addition to any library (also worth its full price value if you are a fan of the genre). The only downside I can think of, is how short it is, 6-8 hours for a single play-through, longer if you hunt for all 10 of the achievements, without much re-playability.

A very enjoyable game, highly recommended.

Car Mechanic Simulator Complete Edition is a quite roundup representation of a modern garage shop, its tools and procedures (later on). The majority of the jobs (tasks) require you to solve some mechanical or other problem to complete the job, which becomes harder and more complex as you advance. But the whole car experience is presented well enough, even for people without the know how of the inner workings of a car, e.g. its engine, electrics, suspension etc to be able to grasp and visualise each aspect quite clearly from earlier on. No need for a manual either, as the examine tool is enough to help you identify the majority of the problems in earlier jobs. The knowledge can then be used later on in the game to solve more complex (or vague) faults having learned by now where to look (if only it was that easy in real life!).

The release of Car Mechanic 2015 has improved almost every aspect of the 2014 one but hasn't reduced it's worth. Mostly the improvements are over small ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ which we were used to anyways, such as lack of achievements, multiple jobs, the annoying auto zoom in/out of the examined part, inventory sort, lack of keybinds, cursor slip in window mode, etc etc Also the 2 addons included in the "Complete Edition", the "4x4" and the "1/4 mile" add little value overall and should have been included in the main game, as they are just distractions overall.

I would recommend Car Mechanic Simulator Complete Edition to anyone that likes puzzle games as almost all the jobs given require you to investigate an existing car fault(s) and fix them as cheap as possible. Also would recommend to anyone that wants to learn about the anatomy of a car as a learning tool, as it does demonstrate quite accurately some of the main aspects of a car, which otherwise would need to spend a long time in a garage to visualise.

And with the 75%-80% off sale this week from steam, makes this a worthy addition to everyones' library.

Endless Sky is not a bad game. It reminded me of the good old Elite, one of my fave games of all time. And that's the problem for me, ES is just too simple for today's standards and mainly played with two keys (J for hyperjump and L for landing, option for automated combat) while you trade/transfer cargo and/or passengers. Get some credits, upgrade ship, rinse and repeat. Storyline also midly interesting, not enough to keep me going.

As I'm already bored of Elite:Dangerous, which can be thought of as a modern and glorified Endless Sky, I could not recommend this game to anyone but hardcore fans and people with low specs equipment. It is open source (free), so give it a try and see if you like it.

I really wanted to try out Cargo Commander but unfortunately it won't run on a Windows 10 machine. I tried compatibility mode Win7 & 8, also running it specifically under the onboard Intel HD4600 instead of the Nvidia GTX860M but to no avail. Always starts, shows the initial logo and then black screen. I read reviews of other people having similar problems, so I'll wait for a patch and then amend the review accordingly.

Too buggy to enjoy. Twice I got stuck at the oxygen station (startup point of mission 1-2) and just couldn't get the ship going. By zooming in it seems that it doesn't touch anything, yet it won't go anywhere; it does seem to try hard to correct itself but the downside is its hull gets damaged and in the end game over. Last try my ship got stuck in the portal, at which point and after a couple hrs trying hard to like Star Wolves, I gave up. Very dissapointing.
