Can't recommend this unless you have a top of the line modern PC. The performance is awful despite the game not looking much different from MHWorld which runs flawlessly on my PC. On top of that when you turn down the settings the game gets seriously ugly with graphical glitches and weird rendering flaws everywhere. It's like they designed the game to be played with upscaling and frame generation as those blur out the game and somewhat hide some of those issues. Of course that introduces a lot of blur and artifacts from the AI processes. It doesn't even end there. The game has a variety of post processing enabled that you cannot disable in settings and even going as far as editing the config.ini it seems that you cannot get rid of it all. I am rather confused by the decisions Capcom made with this game's visuals. MHRise was made with the same engine and looks so clean and crisp in comparison that you really wouldn't think it's the same engine.

As far as gameplay goes I'm finding some of the new stuff interesting but at the same time they absolutely destroyed bowguns with the changes. If you liked building different sets for different bowguns that's something that was entirely removed. Ammo like spread, sticky, slicing seem to be fairly useless as you can't build around them like you could in previous games. Piercing and elemental ammo seem to be really good so if you like those maybe it's fine for you.

I'm not usually into bullet hells but this is a lot of fun in both solo and coop.

Hopefully the dev keeps adding content and does some balance. There's a lot of meh items and skill upgrades.

This is one of those games that makes you wish the company made PC games instead of mobile games. It has so much potential but pretty quickly you can see all the limitations and poor design choices that come from it being a mobile game.

Early Access Review
I'm usually not that into card games but the way this combines it with the autobattler is great. On top of that it's a game about being a necromancer. It fits so well with the gameplay.

As far as Early Access goes there's quite a bit of unfinished art in the game and some visual bugs but I haven't noticed any problems with the gameplay. I am already enjoying it a bunch and it should only get better from here. Looking forward to where the updates take this game.

Early Access Review
I don't know how they managed to screw this up so badly. They had an existing game but all the good things about it seem to be gone. The game is so far from being ready for any sort of release, even early access. So many things are clearly WIP and it's filled with AI art for the cut scenes, some funny artifacts in those. On top of that they released a multiplayer game without multiplayer. Amazing Rebirth for Hawken.

I guess I was lucky that the pre-order "beta" worked mostly fine. I enjoyed my time with it despite the game clearly being unfinished and pushed out the door months too early.

With the launch update for the game it became unplayable because of a memory leak. The game will eat up all the memory it can get, max it out (I have 32GB) within minutes of launching and becomes a choppy crapshoot until it crashes. Absolutely cannot recommend the game in it's current state. Consider getting it when you can buy it for 5€. Maybe by that point in time they'll have fixed their ♥♥♥♥. In the meanwhile I will see if I can still get a refund. What a joke to hold a "beta" two weeks before launch and somehow make things worse for launch day.

Early Access Review
First of all the game is an early access title and it shows. For a roguelite there's a decent amount of content but at the same time it feels like there isn't enough variety. I hope they can fix that with updates. If that is something that bothers you then you'd probably want to wait until the full release of the game.

Now, the actual game itself is a visual treat. The pixel art is honestly amazing and the animations feel perfect. It makes the gameplay look great and combat feel snappy. I'm not the greatest when it comes to these sorts of action games but with Ember Knights I had no problem timing my attacks and dodging with okay timing. Each run you get to pick between a sword or a bow. Both feel great to use. There's a nice bit of building variety but your chances to make a build synergize on a run seem kinda low. Even then after the first 2 hours or so of playing I was able to hit the third map (last one?) fairly consistently (about 10 minutes per map) but every time I got there the miniboss of the place slaughtered me. In a way the game got a bit too easy but then I'd hit a wall with that boss because in particular he had one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ability that I was too slow to dodge that dealt 20 damage when you usually have about 60 max health and limited ability to heal mid boss. That's where the lack of variety started getting to me. Doing the same two maps to get to the third got somewhat stale.

At the end of the day it's an early access roguelite. If that's your jam you know it.

After trying out the beta I hadn't planned on playing the release. I ended up giving it a honest try after I heard some people saying it gets better and partly because I felt like I didn't want to miss out if it would turn out to be great.

Now that's out of the way. Early game, that is all of the story, sucks big time. For the first 30 hours or so you run around mashing G to complete quests with a couple somewhat fun-ish dungeons spread out every few hours. (I'll leave comments about the quality of the writing and storytelling to someone else. Story is not why I play MMORPGs.) After you hit level 50 you'd think it's over but lol nope. If you did side quests you'll be hitting level 50 before you can access any of the endgame content because you need to hit a certain point in the story to unlock it. Once you do you get to scratch the surface of the endgame. And it's fun. Kinda.

Until the game shoves more boring story in your face to progress and unlock more endgame content. And this repeats multiple times. You'll be looking at completing a couple more hours of story every few days as you progress. The boring slog of questing never ends. Well it probably does once you run out of content in the game but by that point was it worth it? I'm in the middle of "Tier 2" in the endgame right now and I'm honestly not sure. Am I having fun with the game right now? Mostly yeah. Would I recommend anyone to go through the journey to get here? Probably not.

If you're still not convinced I guess the best advice I could give is to try it out for an hour or two, it's free after all. If you're not enjoying the very early game then dump it.

PS. The game has an absolutely awful daily gameplay structure to it that almost makes me think the developers didn't want us playing it. You're extremely limited on how much endgame content you can play per day or per week. If you can repeat it you only get good rewards for the first couple times. If you hate daily gameplay loops then do not bother with this game.

Picked this up in a recent sale by chance and damn I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Sure the game is kinda short but over an hour for the first playthrough is decent for a game like this. I'm pretty happy with what I paid (a discounted price). Not much replayability though.
+starts out strong
+keeps you on your toes
+rewards creative approaches (at least on some levels)
+awesome minimalistic design
+kind of funny
-enemy aim is weird at times
-couple enemies could have used a bit better feedback on what they were doing
-last boss was meh
