Buried stars is basically a whodunnit visual novel, with a little bit of horror survival stuff thrown in for good measure.

Pros:

+ the suspense is pretty good
+ game doesn't hold your hand too much with clues and working out the conclusions
+ characters are all generally likable
+ the art quality and animation are really good for a visual novel
+ the voice acting is amazing, carried the game! I do wish the interrogation part of the game was fully voiced too though, I think hearing some dialogue would take away from how monotone that part of the game is.
+ loads of endings

Cons:

- the core mechanic of the game (interrogating your companions to gain clues) is just so TIRING. having 15 topics to go through with 4 or 5 people takes ages, especially when most of the topics are duds
- its fine to have a main/true route, but to have one route be 2/3s of the game just seems a little unbalanced, and makes the game feel a lot more linear than it should
- the perpetrator wasn't COMPLETELY obvious but I think could've been just a liiiittle bit more subtle
- not sure if this game is getting a sequel or not but the ending is just incomplete, even with the epilogues. A lot of questions are left unanswered
- the english localisation is chock full of spelling and grammatical errors, definitely not enough to render the game unplayable, but I still expected better

This game is also missing basic VN features that are in most recent releases:
- only 15 save slots for a game that has multiple routes and endings
- NO SKIP TO NEXT CHOICE OR NEXT UNREAD PART. The skip button will skip everything: bad endings, new dialogue... everything. It makes replaying the game very unrewarding
- you can't replay scenes when viewing images in the gallery

It's a hard choice but overall I don't regret playing, and think under all the flaws is a nifty little game. I'd just recommend playing this game with a guide (which is a little odd for a whodunnit I admit). It's a bit annoying to go back and get something once you've missed it.

Audio is fuzzy, graphics lag on a high-end PC. No help from ubisoft. What else can I say?
