Chicken Invaders Universe expands on the formula of the previous games and is filled with thousands of randomly-generated missions that you can spend hours upon hours on. The difficulty varies depending on the mission, and some of them can get especially challenging (sometimes even unfair), even for experienced players.

A large part of game mechanics was reworked for the better in this game. Skills now make the missions harder by increasing the difficulty %, spawning harder enemies and making the projectiles faster. All of the weapons from the previous games were reworked, so that they are all worth using.

However, there are certain issues with the game. The progression is weird, considering that you're allowed to buy the best spaceship parts (heat sinks, reactors, engines) right away, even though the shops contain intermediate versions between your starter parts and the best ones. There also isn't much incentive to explore, unless you're looking for rare mission types, uncommon/rare/legendary equipment and discounted items.

It's also worth mentioning that at this point, most of the content in this game is recycled from the previous three Chicken Invaders games, which includes most of the mission types, wave templates, bosses (though a lot of them received changes to their behavior) and music.

I'm hoping this game will only get better as time goes on, considering that the developer plans to focus on content from now on. I've been following this game before it was even announced publicly, and my in-game account is the 8th oldest one, so I wish it will succeed. Give this game a try if you played the previous Chicken Invaders games, or are a fan of shoot-em-up games in general.



By the way, if you happen to find the "Egg Cannon Cannon Cannon Cannonade", the developer was inspired to make it thanks to a meme I made. Seriously.
