Before sunsetting the OG campaign and DLC, this game had a gem at the center of it. A F2P game with a fun campaign for new players, and pretty cheap and solid chunks of further campaign in the first few DLC. I loved it. I love the community. But the slow bleed of actual story just makes it all drag so much. PVP is too much about meta, and not about accessibility. Everybody should be able to use the gun they like and be able to find a way to make a build around it. But before I quit this game a while back (3ish seasons ago,) Felwinter's Lie was the meta. And it sucked.

That gun has no visceral feel. It was too smooth, and it felt like I was shooting with an air pistol. Most guns in this game different feel while shooting, but when the most boring gun to shoot is also meta it just reminds me how much the game forces people to its pace rather than allowing players to pick their own. The grind was so repetitive, and I can't say from the last time I popped on it's changed at all. And as one of the few big fans of Gambit, it never changed and was functionally abandoned. Gambit Prime had promise, then it was scrapped. I just don't have the time to trust that things will change.

I truly would love to come back to this when all the DLC is out, and maybe just burn through what campaign stuff I haven't seen. But I just don't see anything of what I loved about it being brought back. Bungie has chosen a model they want for this game. That's fine, but I'm tired of it and I have other things I can do to feel more satisfied than chasing a carrot for season after season. Can't even recommend this game for new people, it's very lore heavy, and most of the lore is hollowed out now where only YouTubers can dole out necessary info to make sense of everything. I hope the ones who keep on playing truly enjoy themselves, but the meat of the game is gone for me.
