Too overwhelming. Maybe I'm just too old. Plus, so much, "Hyup! HYAH!" sounds the whole time. Makes Link sound like a whisper.

READ BEFORE PURCHASING
(...but I'm guessing you didn't, like me.)
Initial Review
Several people has already said this, but much of them the Mixed review is coming from the lack of clarity in the purchasing options, not the game/content itself. The Blackwood Upgrade does not include the previous DLC/Chapters. Even if you own the base game, pay the extra ~$10 to own the current and last several Chapters. The upgrade is only Blackwood.
No Worries; You Can Fix Your Oops
If you (like many of us) purchased the "wrong" one, click Help -> Steam Support, find your purchase and request a refund. Afterward, you can purchase the full Blackwood bundle and save that sweet, sweet $$$. Unless you already own all previous Chapters/DLC, the upgrade version is simply a bad deal.

Update:
I successfully received my refund, then purchased the full Blackwood Collector's Edition, which showed yet another issue/confusion. The details for this product states:
Nguyên văn bởi Steam Store:
Includes The Elder Scrolls Online base game, Blackwood, Greymoor, Elsweyr, Summerset, and Morrowind Chapters and Digital CE Contents.
However, after logging out and back, I did NOT receive the Digital CE Contents for Greymoor, Elsweyr, Summerset, or Morrowind; ONLY Blackwood.

Admittedly, the sale price of $26 seems fair for this, but again, the issue is the lack of clarity here. To me, this reads like I'm purchasing the CE content for all of the listed Chapters.

Disclaimer: I’ve been a fan of the classics for years (I’m 35 and my kids say I’m old), but I'm not good/competitive enough for multiplayer; I get stressed out and start cussing if I lose even a single structure. So, I'm all about the campaign.
Some big shoes to fill, coming from a series as renowned and aged as AoE, but the music, scenery, and gameplay in this one is terrific. But I’m going to be real: it’s not the game play that’s keeping me captivated to murdering other soldiers and sieging keeps; the CUT SCENES are where it's at.
Look, I put my pants on one leg at a time like anyone else, but I’m always jumping in to these battles like, "where the heck is Dover Castle, and why do I care? Let’s wreck some Mongolians!" And in AoE IV Relic has an answer. Right before the start of the map, this lady’s voice thick British accent pops up like, BAM!
“The year is 1069. William the conqueror had recaptured York from the rebels. Now, he wanted to teach them a lesson for defying him." Aaaayyyyy!
I've never been interested in history like this. The 4K videos of the land and castles today with the super-imposed (technically AR I guess?) troops walking around is so dope. Throw in the supplementary videos like, "here's how they made chain mail" and "did you know they used the hooks near their crotch to reload crossbows with a humping motion?" This stuff is glorious.
No idea about the competitive stuff. I suck at games, hence why I play Campaign. But get it, Relic!

My first experience playing a Dragon Quest game, and I loved it. The music is terrific, the art style is unique, and gameplay is excellent. Definitely some odd characters, NPCs, and inside jokes/tropes from other DQ games (I guess?), but overall, this was great RPG.

Duuuuude. Who else put way too many hours of this back in 2008, before it was on Steam. So many wiener-shaped buildings and 3rd-leg creatures.

This game makes me wish I had a better video card. Time sink for sure. Feels empty even with online play, and a bit grindy. But It's pretty and feels pretty good.

I played this while quarantined (and very sick with COVID-19) in January. Had been on my list of games to play for a while, I'm glad I finally played it. Beautiful art, terrific soundtrack, fun level-up sidescroll gameplay, and great story caused me to put way more hours into it than I had anticipated, and I'm generally not a completionist/achievement hunter.

Pretty neat so far.

Stuff I like:
- Building has a weight/support structure aspect; if you build some massive pole barn-esque home, you will need to have a truss or load-bearing support beams. I clearly know nothing about constuction, as these are just words I've heard someone say before.
- The music is super chill.
- Ambient/environment sounds help you! Listen for a deer's really odd bark to identify where it is to murder it! Sort of like Marco, Polo but with knives (spears, arrows, etc.).
- Totally personal preference, but the art style is appealing. Low texture look on purpose, sort of how Minecraft does their blocks.

Stuff I think could use improvement:
- Turning foliage off really helps you find some crafting mats (stone/flint, etc). That's a bit of a weird choice to make (graphics/immersion vs function). Still in early access, so I'm excited to see what's next.
- I know it's early access, but I'd like to see more crafting options. Maybe something of a focus role-based buffs/gear? Or something to personalize gear when with a group?
- City/home building is tough. Scaffolding is everywhere and encumbrance limits what you can carry at any given time. What if there was a craftable item that gives a massive stamina boost or reduced encumbrance when in your town? There are times I like the role-play, fighting, and gathering, and times when I just wanna build Skyrim Legos.
- The map pins are useful, because the worlds are large. However, it would be super if you could share these pin points when playing with friends. Maybe I just haven't figured it out yet (lots of undocumented keyboard commands).
