The best Rogue-like IMO, especially for those who like complicated RPG-style character builds.

It's what the 3D RuneFactory should have been. The game play is solid, combat is decent for it's genre (dodging is important), and the post-apocalyptic setting is pretty unique for the genre. But what really sets it apart from Stardew Valley and the others is the heavy focus on story: there are a lot of main quests as you literally build up the small town, from installing street lights and bus stops, to fixing a pollution crisis causes by a giant rat king. This is also the only game where I enjoyed raising animals, as you can can pet all of them with a single button press using an easy to make item, and you don't even have to go through a loading screen, all my chickens are sitting in their small fenced in yard waiting for me. It's quick and gets the job done so you can focus on the real meat of the game: construction and exploration.

It's very buggy, and after 5 hours of play, my save got corrupted from a bug. Could be fun, but not worth the risk.

New Review for the Enhanced Edition

The EE of Ara Fell made some dramatic improvements from the base game. Combat is now very enjoyable, and I played through entirely on expert difficulty, which provided a good challenge from beginning to end. The game still features a fun if cliche story, and a vibrant and beautiful world to explore. By the end, the lack of new skills after the class upgrades in the midpoint cause fighting to lose its luster. A few visual bugs in the final dungeon detract from the experience as well. Still, a high quality RPG worthy of a full-priced purchase: 4.5/5.

Old Review for the non-Enhanced Edition

A solid RPG maker game. Short and sweet and very pretty, with a cliche story but likable characters. It's major flaw, the easy and poorly developed combat system, is thankfully easy to overlook thanks to the ability to skip most nonboss fights and the overall short length of the game. 3/5, get it on sale and enjoy the ride.

Good game, interesting plot. Really way too short for the price tag. I got this game on sale - I suggest anyone else does the same. $12.99 for two hours of gameplay, no matter how good, is not worth the price.

Ulasan Akses Dini
The first Doom and Destiny was an unexpected strike of liquid gold. Despite its generic RPG Maker graphics and sometimes poor translation, it came out swinging as one of the best turn based RPGs since the SNES era. The sequel, however, leaves much to be desired. This review is while the game is still unfinished, but there are some glaring issues not related to bugs, balance, or the unfinished story.

PROS:
- Custom graphics that while cartoony, fit the tone of the game quite well.
- Class system has the potential to be interesting, especially when used to find secrets and navigate terrain.
- Clever introduction to a story: the game functions as a parallel universe to the original story, which has the potential to make a very interesting tale.

CONS:
- The characters fall flat to the original. This is a big problem, as the charm of the dialog was what made the first game so damn good. Toilet humor rules the day in this sequel, and the characters just don't have much in the way of banter, 4th wall breaking, or personality. I played the whole time waiting for Mike to say or do something really zany, but it just never happened.
- The story quickly goes nowhere. Interesting ideas like the frog king trying to marry the characters off to his daughters is quickly brushed aside into a boss battle. Instead this game just seems to have a very generic RPG story with a few eccentric ideas used in the background.
- The class system feels too constrictive. You basically have to dump all your resources to get a decent level for one class per character, leaving the other classes woefully underpowered. This kind of class system would be really good if you could switch between them more liberally and usefully.
- Equipment management is gone. Characters now auto-equip items and there’s no ability to customize your characters in this regard. This is a huge disappointment, as managing equipment is a big part of any RPG, and leaves the full burden of customization to the class system, which is poorly executed.

Overall I’d say this game needs a lot of work to be anywhere near as enjoyable as the first game. As-is, I stopped playing after a dozen or so hours, not because I reached the end of the content available at the time, but simply because I was getting bored. For now, this sequel is simply a disappointment.

I came to Endless Legend after playing Dungeon of the Endless, and there are many things I really enjoy about EL. Each faction feels very unique, the skill tree is full of interesting stuff, equiping and upgrading units is fun, and the story and lore is the best I've ever seen in a 4x game. That said, I can't really play this game anymore, and it's because the combat simply... sucks. It uses a psuedo-tactical style like Age of Wonder, but only allows player input at the start of every turn, which basically means the AI controls your army for you even when you are in 'manual' mode. This is a real deal breaker for me, unfortunetly, as I just don't find the combat fun and that is honestly my favorite part of 4x games. I still reccomend EL though, as it has a lot of other great stuff going on - but only for those who don't mind hitting 'auto combat' every time.

The tiles are okay, but the real value is in the music. Not all of them are great, but with 14 tracks for $10 you're getting a song for 70 cents a piece - very worth it IMO. People tend to undervalue masic files, but once you've played a few RPG Maker games all with the same music it starts to get on your nerves. Does for me, anyways.
