its free. it crashes way too much and has caused every single steamvr issue ive ever had but at least its free.

looks great. super short though so snag it on a sale.

kinda wish there were proper motion controls (physically pressing buttons, holding the steering wheel, etc), but other than that this is visually stunning and very immersive. i almost never lose my balance in vr but this almost did it for me lol

ive never enjoyed fps games before, but i saw this and 2016 were on sale for a ridiculously low price, and i absolutely adore mick gordons work, so i decided to give the games a go. im blown away at how engaging and fun the combat in this game is. not only is it satisfying and challenging, but also hilariously violent and generally also very cool in general. no game has tickled my brain this much since terraria 1.4 came out.

this game is really awesome. the visuals are phenomenal, the animations are fluid, the soundtrack is extremely fitting, and the story is engaging enough for me to not want to skip every dialogue box. especially impressive for a game under ten gigabytes.
the look of the game is very polished, and this is one of those games where i frequently find myself just stopping to look at how pretty the cityscape is. whoever directs the art is doing a phenomenal job; the plants look lush and full of life, the buildings look authentic, the lighting looks super pretty, and the grotesque fleshy masses that i was absolutely not expecting were satisfyingly gross.
gameplay wise, the movement is extremely fluid and intuative. something ive never noticed about most games is how limited the vertical movement can be, but in stray, the cat you play as can jump onto almost any object, making climing walls and buildings very easy and accessable. this ease of vertical movement really makes the game feel way more open and unrestrained, which is a huge positive because the world (at least what ive discovered of it) is quite small.
also: you can rip carpets, knock things off shelves, theres a DEDICATED MEOW BUTTON, and generally a lot of other cute cat stuff. the robots are super likeable too, even if theyre just npcs. there are a few bugs with clipping and wacky hitboxes, and my friend says that the game crashes frequently on their low spec computer. i have a very high end computer, so i cant talk much about bugs. however, i am reviewing this literally on release day so bugs are pretty much expected.
the game feels like it was made by developers who wanted to make a game, not make money. the concept is unique but still inspired. it feels genuine and heartfelt, and even my mother, an avid anti-video-games extraodinaire, was captured by the look and feel of just watching me play it.
