The perspective ten years gives you really puts some of these games into perspective. Why am I screaming at you in this game, when it's a total miracle we can even communicate, let alone through a shared experience, despite being thousands of kilometers apart. These things aren't that serious. There's a lot of things worse than losing a game. Listen, we all gotta calm down.

I wrote that while playing a game of good old Counter-Strike. It's a game I've been playing for around nine years actively now. I think I get my 10 year veteran coin in a couple months, actually. During my years of playing, I've seen a lot of toxicity, some of it from myself. My play hours have decreased with age. As you age, you get more responsibilities. You have less time and frankly, interest in playing a shooter. Those old pipe dreams of a pro career are long gone, and the game is now just a way to unwind. While playing, I see these whipper snappers. Some of the dudes who used to sound old to me ten years ago now just sound like guys with day jobs.

Writing this feels cathartic, and that's another thing you have to do. Create. Make things. Make art. Make stupid ass comments on your steam profile. If someone reads it, it was worth it. If no one reads it, the process was still worth it.

Enjoy life. Don't exploit others. Try your best to understand. Be the best person you can be. Don't focus on promoting hate against others simply for the way they are, as opposed to what they choose to do.

But while I say that, I have to recognize the injustice in this world. Good people lose other good people. People get violated, hurt. People are born in unjust circumstances, and others exploit this world and other people to 'win' in this game, whatever that means to them. Life isn't a movie, and the good guys don't always triumph. You should try your best to better the world, which is a difficult thing. All betterment comes from within. Listen to music. Go for a walk. Enjoy the fine details in Lidl's 1.5l carton of iced tea. But also appreciate what went into making that ice tea. Appreciate all that went into creating this world. All the experiences. You take a walk in Rome or Florence, and you feel all the shared human experiences of those who walked those streets paved millennia ago.
