After playing the first couple of Mega Man X games, the downward spiral is painfully apparent in this game. Instant death ♥♥♥♥ everywhere, visual style is garbage and adds to the ease of hitting the instant death ♥♥♥♥ that is hard to see and has a hitbox far larger than visuals would imply. Unresponsive controls on vehicles... Annoying text telling you how to complete various sections... Bosses/Mini Bosses that have essentially unavoidable attacks... I feel like I could write a ton more. I understand get gud, but for the love of God, I have no desire to get gud at this crap.

MMX1 was amazing. I don't know what led to this franchise turning to trash. The sad thing is I've only played MMX5 on this collection and I have read that this is the best game out of the bunch. Oi vey.

Not recommended today. I'm at the end of the game and it crashes in the end cut scene every time. I can't go back and do something else because I'm in the epilogue quest and I can't go and start a new game+. I'm not starting from scratch now so I am just done playing this game until it's fixed.

Edit 2023

That issue was fixed but others are prevalent. Aside from the extremely annoying and constant grab attack from the generic zombies (and other annoyances from generic mob interrupting you constantly), playing Bloody Ties time trials has really highlighted for me how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ some details of the character control are. Sprinting is just so weird, you can't hold a key and expect to sprint , you have to press sprint again and again between other moves. Because of the delay between pressing and the sprinting occurring, I often end up repeatedly pressing it because I didn't think it worked the first time (which sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm wrong). It's just an obnoxious thing to work around. Jumping sometimes seems to have some sort of delay. Again, highlighted by time trials in Bloody Ties, I jump on to a platform and press jump again to jump to the next platform and find myself just walking off the edge instead. I adjust my gameplay to press jump later on the platform, just before I get to the edge, and fall again. I have had to adjust to essentially pausing my forward movement in order to be able to make the next jump. That's absolutely retarded for a fast paced parkour game, especially in time trial maps.

These are the things that just annoyed me today. There is a lot of potential for this game but unlike the first Dying Light, I can't seem to have a positive feeling towards it overall.

Edit Feb 2, 2023:

Still.... After several updates that say they fixed the "True Nightrunner" achievement it's still broken. I have now done all the runs either gold or bronze 6 separate times, either on NG+ runs or brand new files and it's still broken. Ultramarathon progress got reset again, 650km or so is just gone. It may be that this game is most enjoyable for very casual players that don't care about details. I want to hard clear the game and it's been repeatedly made more difficult.

At least this update made grabs less frequent which i think is nice.

Edit 2024:

Things I've complained about are fixed. It's a decent game but like many other people have said, for some reason, it's just not as good at as DL1 was. I do think it's fun enough for a play through by all means. After getting used to the parkour in this game, it's kind of more enjoyable fun-wise. Far less realistic, but more fun....

Like.... It's a good game if you're into the Metro formula. I certainly enjoyed my first blind run through.

Now, the trouble I have with this game is bugs and crashes. There are cosmetic type bugs that happen all the time that I'm not too concerned about; for some reason the NPCs in my game love to talk over each other during cut scenes, I don't get it but whatever... The crashes to desktop and even worse, hard crashes that force me to restart my PC are what really get me. I was playing on the weekend and the game crashed twice in an hour of play. That's not reasonable.

When I played through the first time I didn't have much issue with it because of quick save and auto save. I rarely lost more than 3-4 minutes of my time. The problem now is that I'm playing on Iron Mode in which there are no saves except between map changes. When I got to Volga I lost around half an hour of progress to a crash. I quit for the day. Today playing the same map, I got an hour and a half into the level and got a game breaking bug; I went to use a lever, an enemy came up and hit me during the animation and then my view was stuck pointing down, my mouse was rendered useless but I could move. I could not fight back and died. What a piss off. At this point I had already downgraded to DX11 because it had been suggested in various threads on the internet for people experiencing frequent crashes.

So in the end, it's a fun game with an enjoyable story, maybe others will have better luck with stability. If you like to 100% games though, this game may piss you off like it has done to me.

*Edit*
It's pissed me off enough now that I can't keep the thumb up. I got to the last 30 seconds of a map and it crashed (after having crashed twice before on the same map much earlier). I have repeatedly lost hours on every map now because of ♥♥♥♥ stability. If you play this game, never do Iron Mode.

Invisible walls galore, you find yourself trying to go somewhere that's blocked by a 1 foot tall wall where other parts of the game your grab up on 4 foot walls. I'm just trying to get back to my boat but I keep dying because invisible walls block where it looks like there's a path and then fall into the water and die.

When you give CDPR its standard couple of years to fix this game it will be incredible I'm sure. For now I've been enjoying myself with minimal issue outside of occasion silly visual bugs. Make sure your rig can really run it if you plan to play any time soon.

Pretty fun. Gets monotonous but that's the nature of KF.
