When I first got Persona 4 Golden, I was not expecting much except a lot of grinding and a good story.

The game does have grinding (if you are playing on a gameplay level of some difficulty), but the game shows its true self through its ability to tell a kickass story both flawlessly and emotionally. I teared up when I had gotten to the True Ending for the game (and yes, there are MULTIPLE endings), but getting the True Ending is an ending that well deserves the effort that you put into getting there.

The characters in your party are all unique individuals that I haven't found inside many, if not any, of the RPGs that I have played. You, as the player, are also able to directly affect your ability to get stronger through having interactions with your party members, and the interactions are meaningful, as shows off their depths as a character. There are also characters that are not included with your party that you can interact with to strengthen your ability to play the game. These interactions are also story-rich and you will also benefit from these interactions as well.

Gameplay is where the game has the least amount of strengths, in my opinion. This doesn't mean that it's BAD gameplay, but compared to other aspects, such as the story and character personalities, it is not as impressive. You and all members of your party have access to the titular entities known as Personas. While your party members will fit into the standard roles in RPGs (mages, tanks, healers), you, as the player, are able to choose and swap different Personas to fit your playstyle. Do you enjoy being a physical damage dealer, because there's several choices you have for that style. Like playing a standard caster/mage? There's numerous options for that role as well. Are you more of a passive player that prefers to debuff and afflict enemies with conditions? There's Personas that are suited for that as well! While I mainly put the gameplay in the backseat because it was just a lot of grinding and exterminations, the saving grace is being able to choose your preferred Persona that best suits your preferred role.

In the end, this is just one guy on the Internet saying to get this game, in a sea of countless people that are saying to get this game. So do yourself a favor and GET THIS GAME!
