Early Access Review
Audica is a refreshing new take on rhythm games in VR. Coming from over 250 hours on Beat Saber, it took a lot of getting used to. I'm glad I gave it a chance before refunding it from how awkward and clunky it felt in the first hour or so. However, the game is by no means perfect and still needs a lot of work and features. So if you want a more polished product, I say wait a few months to see where the game goes. Otherwise, this is what I have to say about the game:

Be patient with it! Don't rush right into the hardest difficulty because you have rhythm game experience. Think back to when you first picked up Beat Saber or other rhythm games. Those were pretty awkward to learn too. You'll just be overwhelmed and miss things like the indicator that shows when a note is going to spawn outside of your FOV which everyone seems to be complaining about. Granted, it is very easy to miss with the massive amounts of particles and explosions going off (hopefully a setting to adjust this will be added in the future). Don't expect the same amount of polish as a game with many months of modding, community, and dev support behind it on a day one, early access release. Give it a bit of time to see where it goes.

I'm interested to see where Harmonix takes this game and how much they listen to feedback. I'll be happy playing it casually along side Beat Saber. It's no where near as intense gameplay and I think it will be a nice break for when I want to play a rhythm game that isn't my daily workout.

Update 1 EDIT: There is now an option to remove the audio filtering on missed targets for anyone that isn't a fan of that and sees other reviews complaining about it. They also reduced the amount of particles and are making the cue darts more noticeable for all of the target visibility complaints. It would still be nice to be able to turn off particles entirely, but this is a step in the right direction. Not to mention, they are adjusting the melee hit detection based on feedback. It feels much better than before.

Sold my hats for money and now everyone tells me I'm a f2p hacker. I don't even know how to play anymore.
