Everytime you sell a trading card from Digital Homicide game, a little puppy dies...

I loved this game when it came out in 2010, but I ran it on much weaker hardware so I hardly noticed 30 FPS cap. Now, on 2015 hardware it is quite a different story.
Usually I don't mind playing with lower FPS, but in Split/Second the FPS lock is almost unbearable. The action is not fluid, it's jerky and playing for more than 5 minutes is making me very dizzy.
The game itself is great (the concept, the explosions...), but this technical aspect has ruined it for me. If only I hadn't idled it for card I would have asked for my first refund on Steam.
If you are considering buying this game be cautious, test it first and if you cannot bear the 30 FPS lock - refund it!

EDIT: Decreasing resolution from 1080p to 720p helped a bit with my feeling of dizziness while playing, but the game is still noticeably jerky.

G.R.R. Martin approves the game and wanders off to kill yet another character.

A Bora Čorba pati zbog žena sto su im tijela obnažena
guzate, sisate, lomne u struku, zbog njih razvija desnicu ruku
Miroslavu ruka podrhtava dok mu žena mirno spava
o tugo jesenja!

Kad bi sve žene na svijetu voljele samo mene na svijetu
Kad bi sve žene na svijetu odlučile da...
Ehe, žene! Obožavam žene!

Besides the setting, there is nothing more particularly interesting in this game. I really can't remember the last time I skipped cutscene dialogues, but I had to do it here because the story is just dull. I could have swallowed it if it was cheesy 60s alien cliche, but this is just plain dull.
The gameplay is OK, simple and somewhat boring (in particular in the last quarter of the campaign when you spend more time walking down the alien ship's empty corridors than fighting), but eventually OK for a third person shooter with a pinch of tactical management.
All in all, the game is a slap in the face to all X-COM fans out there (and I mean X-COM with a dash)!

I wish there are more RP games like this one - 10/10!

Only drawback is that there's no memorable party members or NPCs.

OK, I had to change my initial "review" of the game...
First of all, new patch fixed the frame rate issue, now it's stable 90+ FPS.
Second, and most important, the devs read my negative review, and then took the trouble of informing me that there's a new patch which fixes the issue I'm having. Kudos for Enlight Software, I wish you all the best guys.
Buy this nice little piece of gaming history, whether here or on GOG.

So I changed it from thumbs down to thumbs up!

My original review is below the line...

Seven Kingdoms 2 was really a great game. And still is because it aged well. However, this so-called HD remake is not so great. I have 10 FPS in game on a computer which runs new games pretty well. It doesn't matter if I play in 800x600 or 1920x1080, FPS remains the same. Odd thing is when I scroll the screen, FPS rises to 30 but drops back to 10 when the screen is still. Maybe it's the drivers, but I'm not willing to tamper with older versions when everything is OK in other games.
So, if you want to play Seven Kingdoms 2 - go to GOG and buy their original version.

Pretty and simple city builder, maybe better suited for playing on tablet than on desktop computer. But it still offers about 10-15 hours of gameplay in campaign mode. Sadly there's no replay value whatsoever, there is a sandbox mode but maintaining a large population is a bit tedious and definitely not fun.
Major drawback is the game's price, 15 euros is a bit steep. If you spot it on some big discount or in some bundle be sure to grab it.

I like Daedalic games, especially adventures, but I cannot recommend this one. The game is not so bad per se, but there are much better games in the similar genre. Battle is too dependent on RNG, and the story is just fantasy cliche and is very linear. If you want to play interesting RPG/TBS combo, you better try Expeditions: Conquistador - it's cheaper and more interesting.
