Idk if liking this game is as much a reflection as me as it is as on the game but I'd recommend it

Great if you like the older style of battlefield.

One of the best multiplayer flight sims I've played. Enough of a learning curve to be challenging but not so hard that you need to put hours of learning into.

Really good management sim. Creative premise and good use of a vertical building.

Updates:
Its grown on me - still can't recommend it without caveats but it can be fun. Until infantry units become more manageable its really not fun to field anything but vehicles, and the campaign is obtuse, but the tactical campaign where you do back to back missions and tech up/build up is engaging enough that the price tag is reasonable enough for anybody that enjoys semi-realistic modern warfare games with a mix of controlling and commanding units.

Old Review:
Gave this a shot after sinking a lot of time into Bannerlord. While its promising and fun but still needs a bit more time in the oven before I can recommend it, although it was a refreshing change of pace from Bannerlord.

Good:
Being able to control different soldiers and switch at death means you can take risks and be engaged rather than playing conservatively. (Battlefield 2: Modern Combat from 2005 had a campaign with a similar feature that was really fun).

Variety of units and vehicles to keep things fresh.

Needs Work:
Tactically moving AI around is really a crapshoot. There's currently no way to tell them to take cover, get in a tighter formation, or to skirmish. In practice it leads to losing a lot of units since they aren't taking advantage of what you would otherwise expect to be defensible positions.

Anti-tank units are really really good at wiping their own squad with friendly fire.

The tactical map is hard to use since you can't jump to units or see markers if you're not over them directly, meaning you spend more time than you need to actually finding the units in a game you can't pause, wasting time.

Campaign mode has really obscure mechanics. The tactical mode (round after round of engagements but researching/purchasing units between rounds) is probably the best way to enjoy the game.,

I'm hopeful to see where this goes as the premise is good, but missing enough "must have features" for me that I would say wait a bit, although I am hopeful I'll be able to update my review soon.

By and large a fantastic game even it has mostly been surpassed by Civilization 6.

I was a huge fan of Red Orchestra 2 and this lived up as its successor. As far as 'realistic' games go it strikes a good balance between fun and realism in the way that I don't believe Insurgency, Squad, or Hell Let Loose do, as much as I've enjoyed those games.

Both sides are fun to play and the asymmetry between the sides adds a nice amount of depth.

Decent shooter with some strong themes a la Apocalypse Now. I'd recommend if you enjoy that sort of thing but don't expect anything earth-shattering.

I enjoyed this game a fair bit when I was younger although compared to most RTS games this one is lacking in a few ways. That said the mods on workshop for this game really set it apart, most notably Thrawn's revenge and I've sunk hours into it.

I'm unfamiliar with the Thrawn's series of novels in the expanded universe(?) but the additional ships, factions, and graphics make it something else. The space combat still is leagues ahead of the ground combat but still would recommend if you have a cursory interest in Star Wars.

I've been playing this for about 6 years now. The workshop content really makes this game and I've had a great time playing board games with friends that live states away now. Can't recommend enough if you enjoy board games in any capacity.
