This game is one of my anticipated games of this year. It has amazing music, combat, art style and story.

- All of the songs are bangers, especially the credits song
- Combat is fluid and makes you feel like a badass if you can perfectly parry everything (the parry window is very forgiving IMHO)
- The Taopunk setting is a very cool concept and the 2D art style matches it to boot
- The storytelling is straightforward, contrary to souls-like vague storytelling (though you can still learn more in-depth about the world-building if you read the item descriptions, data logs, etc)

The downside that I can think of is on the Metroidvania aspect, as I feel that Metroidvania elements are not present enough:
- Usually in Metroidvanias, you need to do a combination of A B C to get the power-up that will help you traverse new areas. In Nine Sols, you only need to progress through the area and suddenly you get a new move that is required to traverse the area just by resting on the next checkpoint/bonfire
- Not as much freedom for exploring. You can think of the exploration as a linear progression, where you can venture of the beaten path or backtrack to get some collectibles
- This one is more of a minor nitpick. The platforming feels fluid for me, just not as challenging as I hoped for

Other than that, this game is very amazing.

Don't play this game expecting it to be Hollow Knight. You need to treat this game as its own thing because this game is really good and I genuinely think it deserves its Overwhelmingly Positive rating.

P.S. It took me 20 hours of in game time to unlock most of the achievements in a single playthrough. I missed out on 2-3 achievements that would require me to do another playthrough.

Good game, can't wait for another game where the main character's father is a God and always calls them "BOY"

Absolute hidden gem. Everything is great; the puzzle, the combat, the music, the story, the characters, everything is great. You can easily sink in 50 - 80 hours into this game.

Although it is set in an MMO, don't make it deter you as it doesn't have the usual MMO Story cliches that you may or may not be familiar with.

My words don't give justice describing this game. You can take my word for it or you can just play the demo and judge it for yourself.

The game is built using HTML5 (if I remember correctly) and the demo is actually playable on your browser!

P.S. Checkout Project Terra, it is the developers' next project and there are footage of the pre-alpha available. So excited!

This is the Donkey Kong Country of the Metroidvania genre. Very Crash Bandicoot like. You should also try Dark Souls, it's the Neopets of all souls-like.

Valve won't release portal 3, but at least we can shoot 3 portals now?

Regretted playing it, got addicted.

10/10 will rush b again.
