Overall I really like how brutal, unforgiving and lightining fast the game combat feels.
It's obvious how skill based it is, when getting the hang of it, one starts to enjoy even more.
I felt that the God horizontal attack (missiles come in like a wall) to be almost a lucky shot for player, most of the times getting hit by these, while I trying to flee the chasing missiles, I felt helpless a few times because of those.
At first I asked myself why would one not want to be pressing accelerator, until I found out how cool it is to change direction really fast if not accelerating, quite a cool little thing missing entirely from the tutorial I think, now I keep trying / doing it and it's really rewarding :)

Music and sound effects are really spot on!
The retro feel is really nice as well!
