The idea is there, however, I cannot recommend the game at this time. Currently, there is not much to do past a simple prestige layer with repeatable upgrades. The addicting element of idle games is the exponential growth that you undergo (eg: cookie clicker or antimatter dimensions), this aspect is not present in Idle Biceps. The repeatable prestige upgrades scale in cost more than they scale in effect, softcapping you over time. The visual growth of your muscles only lasts till stage 10, so past that point it doesn't feel like you are improving. Finally, there are achievements for logging in for 100 and 365 days. That is insane, even for a game that has 365 days worth of content, you cannot expect players to launch this game 365 times. That is a chore, not fun. I have no ill-will towards the dev, who is still updating the game, it just ruins the fun I get from 100%ing games when I have to open the game every day for a year straight.

Now, since we have discussed some problems, I will put forward some solutions.
1. Remove the 100 and 365 day achievements
2. Add visual growth stages past the original 10 (spread out further and further, but this will make people feel like they are progessing)
3. More upgrades and automation, maybe make a second prestige layer. You could add a mode where you compete in fighting tournaments or something to earn cash, a new resource, which you can use to upgrade your equipment or access to new upgrades, etc. (If you need ideas, feel free to reach out. I want to reiterate that I love the idea of this game and think it could become even better.)
4. Make growth scaling better, currently, it is hard to get past 100 growth without farming for hours.

TLDR:
Game is good, but lacks content. 100%ing is impossible without SAM, changing your clock forward and opening the game 365 times, or waiting a year.

This game is great! I love the artstyle, I love the mechanics for buffing your party. After the developers buffed move speed it's become pretty fast-paced. This game is not very easy which could be seen as both a pro or a con depending on your preferences. Overall, one of my new favorite roguelikes.

After 8,000 hours played since my last review, I am going to have to change my review. This game used to be really good back in the day but recent updates and lack of automation have made this game get progressively more tedious (More on this later).

The developer, Lavaflame2, promised his playerbase around a year ago that he would not make the game pay to win. This promise has been broken in my opinion. The premium currency, gems, can be bought with money or earned in game via events, giveaways and bosses. However, maxing out upgrades costs tens of thousands of gems, and you can only make 200 or so a day. Let me tell you exactly what that requires and how much time it takes: Playing the spike minigame 12 times a day (once every hour, on the hour, can't be late or you miss it), Killing your daily bosses (you get in total around 50 keys for the 4 bosses every day and depending on the difficulty it could take an hour total to kill them all), playing your daily pachinko (maybe 2-3 minutes but you usually get 1 or 2 gems), doing daily minibosses (5 minutes to gather items, 1-2 minutes to kill on a max character). This takes up way too much time to get a few hundred gems which won't buy you a lot.

That covers the free way to get gems, lets talk about buying gems and items with real money and how much of an advantage it gives you. It would take a couple of hundred dollars to buy every upgrade, but you can also buy matrix crystals, cogs, pet eggs and obols with gems. Some of these items are not obtainable without spending money/grinding for days and can easily boost you past a non-paying player. This doesn't even include the cosmetics which have a stat boost. Some of these cosmetics are only available through bundles which cost $20. This is clear p2w, if you want to be one of the top players, you have to have best in slot for every item which requires lots of money. The final thing, item auto pickup, the only way to get this is to pay money. Item drops are not picked up automatically and are the cornerstone of the entire game, this is just scummy.

Let's talk about required daily time. The game is called an idle game but that is a lie, it used to be like that when you had 4 characters and there were only 2-3 daily tasks to do, now with 10 characters and hundreds of tasks, it takes multiple hours a day which is a huge commitment.

Overall the game has become too complicated with a lack of automation of features, becomes very boring very fast.
