Just don’t ask me if the self is an illusion. No. Nope. Can’t even go there.
Why do you feel so dead? And also, what does feeling “dead” feel like to you?
Sorry, I shouldn’t have attempted an answer because I have none. But… I was compelled to say something. I’m a bit obsessed by breathing these days, because if I’m breathing, I’m living. If I’m tripping, I’m living, if I’m trying ham-handedly to answer a question on Quora that piques my interest, I’m living. And if I’m fascinated by questions such as yours, I’m probably living. Now, I have to go get lost again in that wikipedia link on anhedonia. More questions than answers there, certainly. But still.

Maybe because our subjective experience is really really weird. There is word for a kind of subjective experience that is like feeling dead; it’s “anhedonia” (Wikipedia link). I like finding new words to describe hard-to-describe experiences. It’s a distraction from this creeping suspicion that nothing is real.
