+ Brutal, intense modern firefights punctuated (in some cases, quite literally) with expertly crafted and ear-shattering sound design. When RPG is fired straight at you, you'll hear it. Like, really, really hear it.

+ Accompanied with visual overhauls that really outshine the Source original.

+ Gameplay loop is really addictive, and the difficulty isn't as harsh as Tarkov or Squad but isn't too casual like CoD of Battlefield. Honestly, the perfect combo imho.

+ TTK generally feels realistic and mostly fair: you shoot a dude with a gun, he's gonna drop in a couple of shots.

+ A good selection of modes to play, from the PVE challenges of Co-op to the more sweaty PVP modes. Lots of fun all around

- Even a couple years after the launch of the game, there are some unoptimized aspects of the game, and reports about the game running not as well for lower spec-ed machines should not be ignored. Graphics look pretty but in a competitive environment you're better off setting everything to low.

- NWI has a weird track record with the aesthetics of its purchasable clothing/outfits. On one hand, it is a video game and I feel that people exaggerate a lot of their negative feelings towards certain outfits in the name of "muh immursion", but there are others that straight up don't make any sense (thank god the ushanka one didn't get added tho lol).



Overall, if you loved the original Source game and if you can afford to run it, this is a very competent and well-thought-out sequel to the original.

Also, when you play coop, you can yell at your enemies and they'll yell back at you. It's hilarious.

While I haven't faced any of the bugs others are recieving, I still recommend to wait for a little bit until SEGA can patch these out.

Other than that, oh my god this game is amazing. I see what I've been missing out on. I thought I wouldn't do any of the side quests and activities, but here I am hunting for anything and everything I can do.

Kiriyu and Majima are daddy material.

I've just finished the game, and while I liked the overall experience, I'm left wanting a bit more. The ending is a little lackluster compared to what happened in The New Order, and some people might be thrown off by certain elements of the game. Might be better to buy this on sale.

In terms of gameplay, it's exactly like The New Order with a couple of extra goodies thrown in, like dual-wielding any weapon of your choice. Not much changed here, but if you really liike run-and-gun gameplay while bashing Nazis, then you'll like this. Being a huge fan of the gameplay of TNO and TOB, this game felt natural.

One issue though, is that the launch of this game wasn't exactly stable in the graphics department. Even though the game works fine for me, it's crashed once and the Manhatten levels have some weird tearing visable in the skybox. If you aren't too confident about buying a game that might not work on your hardware, wait a bit 'till things get ironed out. Maybe you'll get it on sale as well.

BIG FREAKING OPINION WARNING

Some people have complained certain political aspects of the game, and while I can sort of understand what they're getting at (eg. they don't want to be bugged about the same thing they hear on the news 24/7), I feel as though it was only natural for The New Colossus to get into topics of racism and white suprememcy, considering that the game moved from Europe to the States. Wyatt's timeline in the first game had J, who touched a bit upon this idea, so what I saw in The New Colossus seemed reasonable. Also, yeah, Grace does say some hamfisted things in the start of the game, though one might argue that considering the over-the-top nature of the game, this seems tame in contrast to BJ running down a corridor with two massive shotguns blasting Nazi dudes left and right while he reminiscences about how much he's slowly dying.

Ultimately, you are the consumer. If you don't want to see video games touch upon politics or if you don't agree with certain views present in the game, you have the choice to not buy this game. That's fine. Just don't expect me to agree with you that having politics in a game is a bad thing. I was alright with it, as cringy as it sometimes got.


tl;dr it's fun but a part of me wishes there was more to its length. it's a lot less buggy not but yeah, if i could give this game a "mixed" reaction I would

Darkwood is like if somebody took all the things that made the STALKER series terrifying (uncertainty, no hand-holding, resource management, etc.) and then placed it in a world that's extremely bizzare, like SIlent Hill level of bizzare, and I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love it.

Though I can see why some people might be put off by the top down view or the control scheme, I actually got used to it and found that it contributed a bit to the horror aspect of the game. Sometimes, having a clunky system makes things a little bit harder to react to enemies. Again, I have to compare this game to Silent Hill where the control system is a bit limited to add some difficulty to the game, but not too game-crippling.

[I'll add more to this review as time comes but I strongly recommend giving this game a try. At night. With the lights off.]

Redeem you and your fellow exiles by reenacting Space Jam and dunking on your opponents.

Things I digged:
Art is very pretty.
Music is pretty baller. Feels like somewhere between Transistor and Bastion in terms of genre.
Characters are varied and interesting. You really feel a lot of personality from them.
Gameplay is actually really fun and at times intense (think basketball but you can temporarily take enemies off the court and you can only have one member of each team move).

Things I felt iffy about:
Controls are a little wonky due to me being more used to WASD movement, but I got used to it.
The RPG elements are a little on the light side, so maybe calling this a "RPG game" is a little bit of a stretch. Then again, I'm not a big RPG person, so this wasn't too important to me.

Things I want desperately:
Supergiant Games, please consider allowing us to play versus mode over the internet. You already have a really interesting and balanced game, I'd love to dunk on my foreign friends!


Pyre is an overall satisfactory product that once again demonstrates how amazing Supergiant Games is.

I'm not really a horror game person, but Resident Evil 7 is probably the best horror game I've played in a while. Pacing is great, the inclusion of guns doesn't make you feel comfortable, and there are secrets strung around the house (and other places) that kept me at the edge of my seat. Still don't know how I feel about the DLC, but the overall game is a masterpiece.

Get it, turn out the lights, shut the windows and doors, and prepare to be spooked the ♥♥♥♥ out.
