I was super excited about this game and bought the Ultimate Edition to play early thinking to support the devs and that it meant it would include the expansion pass when it came out. Nope. "Ultimate" did not mean "all the things" like every other game I've ever purchased has meant it. Think RDR2 or Assassins Creed or Mass Effect. Ultimate's not just a buzzword. It's been used for years to mean "The complete game with all DLC and some extra stuff too."
The only way to get the expansion pass now is to buy another version of the game since my version was downgraded after release to the Standard Edition. I paid $99 for the Ultimate and would have to pay another $69 for the Gold Edition to get the Expansion Pass. There's not even a discounted upgrade to Gold option.
I know Rift in Time _says_ that it includes an Expansion Pass but it doesn't say it anywhere on the actual store page just in DDs store pages little diagram and at this point I don't trust the devs or Disney execs to abide by that since they've already buried the existence of the Ultimate Edition. That's way too much to pay for a micro-transaction generator anyway. It makes me really sad because it is a cute and cozy game and the nostalgia is real. I had a lot of fun playing it before release, its just been ruined by feeling scammed.
Cozy games are all about feeling safe and Disney polluted this well for me. Ironically, since the game is all about cleaning up the badvibe Night Thorns. I'll switch my review if they ever acknowledge the early supporters in some way or at least let us upgrade but I doubt that will happen.

Edit: I'm adding a rec in case you were really wanting the feels of this game. Cozy Grove on PC or Cats and Soup on Tablet have almost identical rhythm and cute aesthetics.

Not what I was expecting after hearing how awful the other Marvel game was. Characters are really well written and lots of backstory woven throughout the exploration so it doesnt feel like exposition dumps. Gameplay is forgiving with lots of autosaves but Id say its more of a story game than anything else. Customization and skill trees are limited but the abilities are still fun to use. Very pretty but a lil glitchy but nothing that made it crash. Solid B+

The fact that you cant clean the messy apartments is stressing me tf out. Opposite of cozy. There are wrong places to put things?? Good bones but needs some fixes if it really wants to be cozy

Games needs to patch out its transphobia.

Also I got stuck in a table. I'll... check back when the dust has settled. Wasn't really expecting No Man's Sky all over again..

Saw the GDC talk from Grace Bruxner and wanted to check out her game. She made a neat thing. It was enjoyable.

I really want to love this game but I can't see past the bad writing. The UI is fantastic for a point and click and the art is some of the best pixel art I've ever seen in a video game, but the writing is a pile of steaming ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I will look past the occasional spelling error in games, but half of this game is literally collecting stories about the world so I can't just overlook... how awful they all are. The world itself is solid. Robots versus humans with some hybrid cyberpunk wonderfulness AND CATS, but the stories themselves are just written so poorly it makes them boring and hard to read. I don't know if this was a bad translation since it has other language options, but I can't imagine any native English speaker with any kind of writing background being okay with this. Please please please fix this! I really want to play a version that doesn't make my brain cry.

I started playing this game so that I could make fun of it (I mean really, pigeon dating sim?), but I kept playing because I became emotionally invested in the characters and the story. This may start out as a dating sim but it EVOLVES into something... else. I don't even know how to describe it. I was mashing that damn space bar like it was nobirdies business.

10/10 Blew my gorram mind.
