The port from PS5 to PC is pretty bad, but it's still playable if you adjust the graphics, and you also have to accept that some random errors and glitches can happen. The port doesn't do the game enough justice, and you should go for the PS5 version for the best experience.

With that said, the game itself is pretty solid. The graphics are great, the environments feel alive, the characters are entertaining and believable, and the gameplay is smooth and adjustable to your shooting style as we're all used to in previous games. The story and lore are something that a decades-long fan like myself has been waiting for ever since the previous lore-heavy game in 2009. All the while, they still keep a flair of mystery in all of it.

The only thing that's somewhat difficult to get right is the focus on having two main characters in two different locations. Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time (2009) did do this better, in my opinion. However, game development, budget, etc. is never an easy task.

I'm just happy to see that so much care and effort was put into a game like this. I hope this game creates a whole new generation of fans!

It's a nice game, but quite clearly a product of the time. The gameplay in this is already easier compared to modern games.

With that said, I will fully defend this game. This type of gameplay was new back then, so blaming them for staying true to the main core in this remastered version would be unfair. This game is a perfect example of how a remaster is done correctly! It's clear that there's a LOT of love put into this remaster and if I were to ask my younger self what it would look like, he would describe it exactly like this!

A game should distract you from the busy events of everyday life. This game fits that description perfectly.
Now I'm fully focused on my cult.

I purchased Dear Esther back in 2012. Over 10 years later, I played the Landmark Edition and I must say that I am pleasantly surprised that I still love it despite not having touched it since then. Particularly with all the modern graphics, gameplay standards, and more. I am not a poet and only have a somewhat passable understanding of what art is, which is why this walking-simulator experience is perfect for me. I had questions then and I still have them now. The game is open to interpretation, which suits me, but it also means it may not appeal to everyone.

As a final thing, I always remembered a quote from the game: "I've begun my voyage in a paper boat without a bottom; I will fly to the moon with it."
I never fully understood its meaning, so I have created my own interpretation of it. I like it, and it only took somewhere near 10 years to make one. Better late than never, right?

I planned to play it for probably only a few hours and then call it quits.
....Emphasis on 'was' the plan.
