Unfortunately the game falls short for me. I do like the environments, at least initially. The ending chapter the tone is just way off and it really kills the vibe it started with.
Not much to say without just nitpicking at the story and line inconsistency.

I feel that the characterization of the leads flip around a bit too much, the partner is just a weak character in general- several conversations felt like there were direction changes with his character mid-development that weren't quite smoothed together in the final product.

There is a light theme of animal racism that is wildly inconsistent, 'feather duster' is apparently a horrible term to our main character but then the character goes on to use it multiple times himself throughout. There are dozens of little phrases we have in english that get very confusing if you are inconsistent with how characters react to them, half the dialog sounds 'racist' by the game world's rules but then the characters don't react at all to them. its a strange thing to go for and ends up feeling cheap and honestly, kind of offensive in how pointless of an addition it is.

Fantastic game, I'd recommend playing with tank controls and not the modern style. It feels so much better when entering and exiting screens to just keep pressing forward on the stick instead of having to reorient. I know for many modern players this may feel weird but trust me, you get use to it fast and its quite good. It's good to play it on the easier difficulty- you will still have a good time enjoying the atmosphere, exploration, and puzzles- you can always do a hard run with Chris later on.

It holds up and is surprisingly quite playable. I did have a bit of trouble with a section that has a maze but other than that its a wonderful nostalgic trip to go back and play Myst if you haven't (or if it was a very long time ago).

The game has mods that can provide any customization any player could wish for, especially that which was recently added. I am not bothered by many games that simply leave similar customization open ended, however, I am frustrated with games going back into a long established setup and clearly pushing political activism while hiding behind 'customization' and player choice.
Especially when it is long after I have paid for them and no longer have the choice to respectfully pass it by and seek a different experience.
It's intellectually dishonest and manipulative. I would much prefer to simply not engage.

Fun and refreshing at first, I really wanted to like the game and there are a lot of individually enjoyable elements. Many of the Cryptmaster's responses elicit a laugh, the -very- few that are ideologically driven feel in good jest and easily ignored.

Overall though it becomes rather stale and repetitive, you fall into the same actions over and over and that just starts to wear on the whole experience.

Unfortunately it ended up feeling like a chore to sit down and play- the mechanics are neat but the game never adds ways to optimize out or simplify your engagement as it goes on in order to keep the inherent repetitive nature of the combat loop fresh.

I do appreciate that you can crank up the number of letters you get at the end of combat, but it feels like a token effort that only reduces the grind, not change it in any fundamental way. It's a great premise but I can't help but feel something could be done to further improve it.

Give the demo a try, it is representative of the whole experience so if you think you will enjoy it 10 hours in just pick it up.

Good wave defense game with rogue-like card deck building. I keep thinking I'm done but end up coming back a few days later for a few rounds.

Great vibe, bit underwhelming in the story department but with a loop that is engaging. The puzzle elements are satisfying.

It is stargate fanfiction that took a single Reddit-U Philosophy 1101 class and posits the abysmal 'oooo everything is a derivation of something before' view of things. Wow such bigthonk. Bet no one has ever thought of that before. /s

Went into this excited for some historical fiction, left with massive disappointment. Lets just say it is not at all surprising games journalists loved it.

Good simple game, its the right length for the content and while not complex and certainly a bit shallow story-wise it feels right for about 10 to 14 hours of play.
