If you like colony, settlement builders, you really should love this game.

I've been following its progress for many years, a common story, played the demo to death, fell in love.

The things I love about this game:

Its slow. These days games are often so fast and hectic, its all about rushing this and rushing that to get to the end. This is a game designed to let you take a step back, slow down and enjoy yourself and the journey. Every little detail is a pleasure to witness, watching the settlers drag logs from the forest to storage and building sites, watching buildings come to life. No mysterious settler stuffing 4 tonnes of logs or stone in his pockets and running to the build site. That stone will need a cart, that log will need a bullock.

Even watching a tree be cut is fun, no longer, like in many games, does someone swing an axe a couple of times and a neatly stacked pile of lumber appears, then vanishes into his pocket. The tree falls, they have to remove the branches, then leave it for the bullock crew.

There are other games that do this in various ways, but there is something satisfying about the way it all comes together in Manor Lords. Ostriv is perhaps the closest I can think of, and another game I recommend, but Manor lords is different in its own way and much more complete at this point. Also Combat!

I appreciate some people may not like the ability to slow down and enjoy the journey, that's okay, but if you want a change of pace, this may be the game for you.

Does it have bugs? Probably, I haven't played long enough to encounter any though as yet, and to be fair and honest, I can't recall the last game I played for even 5 hours without encountering a bug, so at the beginning of early access I call that a win. The game needs a little polishing here and there, mostly in descriptions and such. Sometimes its a little confusing working out production chains for the first time, but every time i found the answer in the help section.

I am looking forward to the journey as the game progresses to release.

I don't write a lot of reviews but I felt the need to counterbalance some of the repetitive negative reviews pointing out performance issues which were announced before launch, so that is hardy news.

That said I am running the game on an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 TI 8GB with no issues. It did not run out of the box with no performance issues, I turned off dynamic resolution, depth of field, motion blur and changed AA to TAA and it went from awful to really good. Its also improved the drab colour scheme by a large factor. (I would have turned off motion blur regardless, aside from performance hits its nauseating, and I always turned off depth of field in CS I.)

Its hard to keep in mind that one must compare this to vanilla CS:I. Comparing it with modded CS:I with a tonne of DLC is really silly. Is it better than Vanilla CS:I? I would say without a doubt that yes it is. Building roads, zoning, districts, all of the basic stuff has been improved to match many features available in mods. Was every mod feature added? No, but when has that ever happened in a games followup? Never And it would be a mess if it was. The basics are there and much improved.

The lifepath stuff? It seems pointless to me, perhaps it affects performance as others have suggested, that makes sense. Especially the models. I'm happy enough to ignore it.

I love the new features and concept, upgrades to service buildings, the better presentation of data from building requirements to easily understanding why a building is low on staff. Road design is a dream, upgrading roads, laying grids, power and water etc built into roads. I even like the new milestone system. Buying zones is improved, zone grids still get messed up a little and buildings can go wonky on slopes, but seriously there's a nifty terraform tool that I all too often ignored in CS:I. Now it has a use and works with so much more ease. I find myself paying a lot more notice of the terrain and placing roads sensibly and levelling land for buildings. Like they do in real life you know right? I've not experienced any crashes at all either I could never at any point have said that for CS:I.

I'd say buy it with some caveats.

Don't expect a fully modded DLC packed game.
Make sure you have a PC that can run it. Be prepared to adjust the settings.
Be prepared to learn how to terraform. Its easier now though.
Have the capacity to be patient waiting for mods and DLC.

If you don't like those Caveats then wait until its optimised and mods are out.

I rarely review games, but 'Acting Lessons' surprised me in the best possible way. Despite initial hesitation due to past experiences with similar games, I decided to take the plunge based on the game's positive reviews. Going in blind, I had no inkling of the plot, and the journey that followed was nothing short of extraordinary.

From the very start, I was captivated by the rich and diverse cast of characters, and my in-game persona developed genuine connections with them. However, as the story neared its climax, unforeseen calamities befell me, making me question my every decision. Without giving away spoilers, I was left emotionally shaken and haunted by the weight of my choices. It was awe-inspiring how the author masterfully transformed my actions into a profound narrative, offering a poignant lesson about the far-reaching repercussions of our decisions.

I knew I had to replay the game, this time approaching it with careful consideration for the consequences of my choices. Tragedy still struck, but my newfound mindfulness had salvaged some aspects of my character's life, leading to a more optimistic conclusion.

My foremost advice to anyone interested in gaming is to experience 'Acting Lessons' immediately. Embrace the uncertainty and avoid using guides or cheats, as discovering the story's impact organically adds to its immense power. The game's brilliance lies in the freedom it grants players to explore different outcomes, making each playthrough a unique and unforgettable experience. Don't miss out on this emotional rollercoaster that imparts a lasting message about the choices we make.

Quite the fun game for a free demo. I was dissapointed when I reached the research limits for the demo and couldn't really expand any further, but thats just a sign I was enjoying myself. I am not sure if I will buy this, it depends on the price, I don't imagine paying over $15-20 for it.

Also experienced the stuck waitress bug mentioned in another review. I found moving a table fixed it despite there being plenty of room around the said table.

I will preface this with mentioning I am a long term fan of the series, having spent many hundreds of hours playing all of the games on various platforms, I have probably completed at least 20 playthroughs of ME1.

I am finding the legendary revamp entirely enjoyable. Even with some updates, mostly for QOL, it still feels like the original game. In fact I am completely addicted again. I have yet to journey into ME2 and ME2 Legendary editions but I am very happy with my purchase so far. I haven't encountered any bugs, which certainly was never the case for the original ME1.

Combat feels better, but I am glad that they didn't homogenise the systems throughout all three games, and kept as much of the original systems of each game as possible.

The first three times I played this game I got very bored with the open world elements and quit. I finally decided to push through on my 4th attempt and it was very much worth it, while the game has its faults, the overall plot is very good and the latter part of the game is much better than the early parts, If you enjoyed the mass effect series I would recommend perservering with the earlier parts of the game and the annoying vaults, as the ending is very epic.

Very addictive game. Find myself coming back to replay this game over and over. Can't wait for XCOM 2
