Hello, I am rage-writing this review after wasting several hours doing stealth heists. It is one thing to fail a 20 minute heist 5 times as a learning process, it is another thing to fail a heist 50 minutes in because one guard decided to path to a new spot or a civilian saw you for 0.1 seconds doing an "illegal" action. I hate spending 30 minutes hunting for cellphones and keycards that don't highlight themselves after 30 seconds (like they did in PD2), I hate how pager limits seem completely arbitrary at times (unlike in PD2), I hate how detection is speed based (slowing the game to a crawl compared to PD2), I hate how enemies in loud just refuse to die (whereas PD2 was super fast and responsive), I hate how near-mandatory skills are locked behind grinding (admittedly this is also a problem in PD2 but not nearly as bad).

I can't blame the developers themselves for the mismanagement of this game, but it is astonishing how Starbreeze had a perfect framework to work with in the form of PD2, and they fumbled it. The ball is out of the court, it's spiralling down the road, it's sinking into the depths of hell, it's landing the chaos dunk. How did this happen. All you had to do was make PD2 again. No one would have complained. Why. This game would be difficult to recommend even if it was free. I am not having fun.

EP1 (AKA, the demo) is a little rough around the edges. Graphics made my eyes bleed, puzzles made my head spin, greatly increased my fear of bears and opening boxes. At the very least, it got me interested.

EP2 is much improved, more story, more characters, less visual murder. There's a lot of... stuff to try and understand (and I didn't) but I guess I enjoyed the ride, nonetheless. My only complaint? 123456. Why.

I think I felt more than I understood? An interesting and memorable series of games, but I don't think it was going to make much sense to me because it's an emotional story about a specific kind of tragedy, one that I haven't had the pleasure/misfortune of having. I didn't cry or catch depression from this series, but I think I learned more about myself than anything, lol, because I'm a heartless monster that hasn't experienced the loss of a loved one or because I'm too afraid of being hurt to put myself out there. I'm here for the puzzles, baybee, and this game has only a few but they got me thinkin'. Regardless, I will remember this story fondly and I commend the author for never giving up; I hope to make a game of my own one day and their work inspires me immensely. The other episodes are free, so give those a try first, and if anything you see interests you, might as well finish the story, eh?

I played this on itch.io, so I did buy it with money and got a free Steam Key to go with it. If you take your time and read everything, it's about a 5 hour experience. You might look at the MS Paint art and think this is a joke game, but I found it very fun, despite not liking horror or walking simulators.

The atmosphere is surprisingly effective despite the graphics, a lot of this is attributed to the music (which you can get for free on Tommy Tone's bandcamp!). The story has a lot of different themes, which I still don't really get even after playing it for so much, but the actual plot is relatively simple to follow and fun. Main character is a cute gremlin new-wave thing, so that's a plus, pink hair is usually a red flag, but BB's very entertaining. As far as horror goes, its 5% scary, 25% philosophy, 70% surreal comedy. Also, lots of violence, which is fun! Is the game perfect? No, but for like 5 bucks I had a great time, easily one of my favourite games of 2024.

Pretty good. If you love the nonsensical action of EDF 5, this is a no brainer buy. There is some content reuse, which should be expected since the game has almost 50% more missions than 5 without DLC. The story is amazingly fun and shockingly thoughtful for a game where the humans can't distinguish between themselves and 20 foot tall bipedal frogs. And with a recent update, Epic Games login is no longer required. All my homies hate Epic Games (it was still fun even before the update, tbf) I hear the game is currently unstable on AMD GPUs, so look into that if you have one.

I can't wait for EDF 10.

8/10, recommended to get on a sale. Its an interesting adventure-puzzle game that you'll likely beat in one sitting. While the core game is fun, there are a few optional puzzles that don't make much sense to solve, even with the hints given to you by the game. Some achievements are also difficult to find without a guide because they are hidden and don't have very clear clues to lead you to them.

Clear the game once by yourself, then go and get a guide to do the rest, if you feel like it.

This game is fun, however, fair warning: this game makes me extremely motion sick, which few games have ever done to me.

The controls take time to learn, and the constant rolling and bumping, starting and stopping might get to you. If you play it casually, its quite fun. Going for completion might make it a little more frustrating.

Game goes on big sales, which is how I got it. Very worth on sale.

not bad. Okay but in all seriousness this is a great game, way better than RIse, but there's a huge caveat: the end-game content is a huge MMO-style grind. Its fun to just fire up the SOS quests and do random hunts, but doing the SAME thing in the SAME level over and over again gets really boring. This is true even more for Iceborne. Keep in mind that with the release of Iceborne, much of the base game content has been gutted in terms of difficulty.

You make the correct choice playing the PC version of the game, because you can skip the boring grind with mods and actually have fun fighting the monsters you want to fight. Also the game goes on big sales, so wait for those. If you have to choose between Rise and World, pick World.
