This game is REALLY hard sometimes, but a lot of fun once you get a hang of the controls.
Has some cool changes compared to the last games that make it easier and harder:
-You can pick levels one at a time and still progress, so no more game overs and restarting the run (survival mode can be unlocked and is effectively the same as how the old games played)
-There are multiple characters which give you an advantage (mid-level shortcuts is a big one), different Umihara costumes also change the music!
-You can freeze time to readjust where you're aiming, although I didn't find this very useful
-Reeling/unreeling the grappling hook is way stronger, so wall climbing and swinging is a lot easier

-Enemies are noticeably harder to reel in, so it's easy to get dragged along by a fish you've hooked
-Line tension isn't as strong without reeling, so rocket jumping isn't a thing anymore, instead you can gain momentum by reeling the line and jumping
-The new pistol fish enemy is really annoying
-The dedicated diagonal throw buttons from Umihara Kawase Shun are gone
-Because you can pick levels one at a time instead of having to reach them in a single run, there are some REALLY hard levels now to compensate for you being able to retry them over and over

Being able to pick levels one at a time makes this one of the best in the trilogy because you can reasonably make progress a little bit at a time. The soundtracks of the last two games are also included and the 3D graphics (which could use a little anti-aliasing) are actually quite pretty.

Incredibly hard but fun, very fast pacing makes learning hard levels more enjoyable than frustrating. Once you start to get a feel for how the tension and momentum works, swinging around and sling-shotting yourself around feels great.
Compared to the first game in the trilogy, the controls are slightly improved with dedicated diagonal buttons for throwing your grappling line so consistency is improved. Music is top tier.

I give this a positive rating because I genuinely enjoyed this game, but I do think that there are major aspects that could have been improved. The most fun part of this game is solving the sub-events and talking to everyone (it's fully voiced!) but the combat segments are nothing short of boring and repetitive.

The event tracker/map is not very helpful; some events are very hard because what you need to do isn't explained (e.g. the scones event needs an item from the dungeon that is not explained) and the map can only tell you if there is or is not an event in a part of the map (e.g. lucky coins event involves 7 different areas throughout the day so you'll constantly walk back to places you've been to in order to check if it's a new event or not until there is nothing new there).

I won't spoil anything: the story is OKAY but falls apart near the end. The whole thing is quite light-hearted and fun, and the sub-events explore a lot of the named side characters which is cool. They mostly play on the idea of using time-travel to do trial and error, and some of the events reference stuff from the anime.

If you play this game, be prepared to put in a lot of effort to keep track of everything. There's a reason most of the achievements have less than 3% collection rate. Please use the Synthesis Doc linked in the Steam Discussions to find the recipes to upgrade your stuff ASAP. The difference between absolute obliteration and boredom is fully upgraded gear, the game really speeds up in the late game when you have a surplus of resources but most of the events are actually at the beginning of the game.

You really need to be a fan of the show and have a lot of patience to like this game. I'm both, so I give this a positive rating but objectively this is, like, a 5/10.

It may be a bit buggy but it does a good job. Very good software considering the price. It's also free on their website, the Steam version just supports the Devs and gets automatic updates. Use this if photoshop or clip studio are too rich for your blood (which is yes).

Extremely cute and fun adventure game where you follow a water strider through Korean Folklore to deliver a flower to Buddha. Beat it in 1 hour and it was an hour well spent, well worth the few bucks I spent on it.

With 100% Completion (including achievements), I can safely say that this is one of the best games to come out recently. For a game that was crowdfunded and in development for around 4 years, by golly is it impressive how good this game is.

THE GOOD
- The controls are fluent and jumping around and climbing is quick and feels natural. A controller is highly recommended.
- The music, graphics are exceptional and create unforgettable worlds and levels. The game's 'cute-as-heck' slogan is 100% accurate.
- The amount of care put into making this IP feel original is clear, unlike many other crowdfunded games which market themselves for nostalgia value far too much.
- Most, if not, all levels are fresh and unique. They rarely ever feel like busy-work and are engaging to play and complete.
- Chapter 1 is the first world (duh) and is the best world in the game. It has the most to do and see and is very beautiful and simply fun to explore.
- Pons (the coins of this game) are common and easy to collect, and it is not required to collect them all in a level, so it is not made a chore to gather them.

IN THE MIDDLE
- The story is simple to understand not very complex, there is little dialogue and few named characters.
- Customizing Hat Girl is random, done through use of a slot machine following a special, mini stage. Customization is the only use of Tokens you find throughout the game's levels.
- There is only one weapon, and although this game is not combat focused, the lack of customization is somewhat dissapointing, but not problematic.
- Chapter 2 is extremely linear, Chapter 3 is more open but lacks verticality or interesting features, and Chapter 4 is way too open and feels like many tiny levels that are glued together and lack congruency. Chapter 1 is by far the most polished for a game about exploring and collecting things.
- A certain achievement requires you to make a crude joke. Your mileage may vary.

THE BAD
- I beat this entire game in 17 hours to 100% completion. This game is short, if you are proficient at these kinds of games.
- There are three annoying enemy types: Crows, Cats, and Headless Statues. The crows are small and weak, but a certain variant moves quickly and can push the player very far without warning. The Cats can turn invisible and invulnerable, and only reveal themselves to quickly attack. Headless Statues are fast, indestructible, and pursue relentlessly. I do not know what you are meant to do if one starts chasing you and can catch you off guard since they don't move right away.
- As of now (a few days following release), the camera has a tendency to get stuck on ceilings and jitter around. Many walls cannot be climbed up due to the top of the wall ending in a lip that you get caught on.
- Some achievements are difficult to attain due to some frustrating mechanics (STEALTH).

"Short, but sweet" is how I would describe this game. If you asked me to give it number out of 10 I'd give it an 8. The biggest problem is just how short this game is. Hopefully Gears For Breakfast will have a bright future in developing more great games like A Hat In Time.
