I played a bit since the start of the early access years ago, but let's focus on what I have played so far since the "official" launch.

Long story short, the game is very good, while a bit buggy from time to time. So if you like RPGs (and I really mean RPG as in role playing game, not just those mindless looter games), then you are in for a treat and it's worth the one-time purchase with no micro transactions in seight. Otherwise, well, as long as you don't hate RPGs I'd say for the content alone the game would still be worth it even with double the price tag.

I cannot recommend this game at all and here is why:

* The game compiles pointlessly shaders every single time I launched the game. And yes, this is completely pointless, you only need to do this when there are major changes in your video card driver, heck at most after every driver update and not a single additional time. Hurrah. Amateur time.

* The game doesn't registers that the game was already launched previously, so you get the stupid first time setup wizard all over again and worst it partially doesn't respect you previously selected settings. Hurrah. Amateur time.

* The game UI doesn't work with mouse - I literally broke the wizzard in a selection box with value that should be available to select ... it's a completey broken mess. Hurrah. Amateur time.

* Not to mention that the UI doesn't work with mouse at all, scrollwheel doesn't work where it should, sliders don't work - it's embarrassing that anyone deems to charge money for this instead of paying me for testing. Hurrah. Amateur time.

So people may say, oh, it's a port, this is normal - wut?
They charge full prioce money, if it was a 1:1 port the game should have been free. It's like selling a ship for a road for full price but claiming it's a car.

TL;DR: Avoid this one like the plague, it hasn't been fixed in months so there is no chance in hell it will be fixed; EA will sooner "remove" it from their supported games, making it unplayable.

Stray is a 3D puzzle game, mostly linear with some hub areas that feature a bunch of fetch quests. And no, your movement options are very limited, then again beside a few times where the camera is locked this isn't really a downside.

Is it any good? Yeah, for sure.
Obviously it's not perfect beside maybe the ambient music, but the overall package works most of the time.

About the puzzles: I had no big issues with any of them really. There was a puzzle in the beginning where I started overthinking the issue, but that was maybe 3 minutes tops. Other than that it's not very challenging intellectually.

About the mechanics: I used mouse & keyboard and it works fine. Obviously not perfect, there is a few spots where easy fixes could have improved the input issues arising but clearly there wasn't incentive to do so and rush the game out. It happens about three/four times, only once where you are also time contraint, so it's annoying but no game breaker.

About the story: Well, it's fine. The story is mostly environmental driven, you really have to put attention to your surroundings. A friend of mine rushed through it and was confused and I had to explain half of the plot to him afterwards - it's all right there, he is just the type of gamer that ignores literally everyhting but the primary mission goal.

About the cat: Personally I think Stray worked best when the cat was a cat. Players that actually complete the game may agree, at a certain point the cat feels less like a cat but more like a human character in a cat's body. I personally didn't mind as much as a friend of mine did, but I agree with him that the game's story telling was way stronger before this point. Yes, I know it's way more challenging (and therefore expensive) to pull it off but not impossible and it would made Stray a Great Game instead of just a Good Game.

About the sound: SFX are decent, however the ambient music was a highlight of the game for me. Without it the game would have been decent at best; so much was gained by the great music.

About the tech: It's decent. There was obviously put a lot of effort into cat animations, they look pretty good (but not perfect, especially considering the very limited movement range - a good example it the "throwing stuff off an edge" animation clipping and not connecting), the camera implementation sometimes get stuck for no reason (prob to look more cinematic) with level of control going bad, the loading times are surprisingly long from my SSD, the framework is not stable at all (maybe because of Gsync not working properly, really odd), so I had to crank down the options to adjuts but weirdly it had no influence. There was high load on one CPU core while the rest was peaking at 50%, so I guess the game physics don't scale well with cores and that causes the dips in frames? I don't know, I read that many other PCs no matter the configuration have similiar issues, so I guess there was put in minimal effort to put this game on PC and it kinda feels like an afterthought, so be aware that you may have a completely different experience than I did in that regard.

Would I recommend playing it?
For this amount of money, yes, you get out a few hours of fun (for me it was about 5hrs, I think) - depending on how much you engage with it more or less. It has zero replay value on it's own, because it's a complete linear story and mechanically it's not challenging, so if you expect more out of it, you are going to be disappointed. It is more comparable to watching a relaxing interactive movie than what is traditionally considered a game.

Update Patch 1.02:
Well I played one hour of the game and it crashed again out of the blue for no reason during a "follow the trail" mission at a trigger location.

Update Patch 1.01:
Things got even worse now, constant crashes. This is a clear avoid like the plague until things get fixed, which prob take weeks to months considering the unstable state of the game.

Vanilla:

Talk about a bad port...
Even with my beefy hardware running Warframe at 4K with 120FPS, this game disappoints on so many levels.

Just to name a few:
* The shader compilation after updating you graphic drivers takes ages, I talk here 10-15 minutes.
* Even with my high DPI mouse and sensitivity on, the mouse speed is underwhelming and inprecise.
* On top of that there is clear non-optional mouse decellaration, it feels wobbly.
* Not to mention in 3 hours of play I had three crashes during gameplay (half of the time I didn't even played the game but waited for said shader optimizations twice and was watching cutscenes).
* There are issues with character animations which seem to run at a lower framerate than the rest of the game.
* Anisotropic filtering doesn't seem to work at all.
* The game seems to have some memory leak issues following numbers from ProcessExplorer.
* Sometimes the game seems to miss noticable frames.
* Key bindings are very limited optimizable, especially when it comes to hold and key combinations.

So I would recommend everyone holding back until this is fixed, not worth the asking prize if you can't play more than an full hour before the game crashes without even logging why :-(

TL;DR: Looks like the game is now completely broken.

As a backer I supported the original crowd funding campaign and bought the game early on. It was never perfect but at least playable most of the time. After about one and a half years of a break, I tried it again.

And this happened after starting a completely new game without any mods:
* The planning tool was completely broken except for walls.
* Building fundaments didn't work (workers just randomly left holes for no reason).
* The power station was no longer freely available and after I bought one another one got delivered.
* Workers didn't go to the fully functional rest room but got tired.
* Prisioner became unsatisfied without any reason and when they reach max level they apruptly cooled down to zero again.
* Some complete and functional rooms were marked as unreachable. Even scrapping the whole building and building it new didn't change this.
* You can no longer zone areas before the fundament is done.
* Prisions got stuck in walls and glitched throw them.
* The cleaning didn't work.
* Cooking didn't work but sometimes prisoners didn't eat even tho they had enough time, food and space available.
* Deliveries sometimes arrived and then suddenly the already placed item got unplaced on the map and stayed in the delivery zone.
* Some cells were marked as not a valid cell (red icon, not used) while the tooltip clearly showed all conditions met.

On top of that, now there is some sort of Paradox Launcher at the beginning nobody needs.
Well, I guess I know where to focus on the game actually ended up to be.

And no, this didn't happen after playing days, it happened in less than two hours in one session.
So it is pretty safe to say, avoid this game right now, it's broken on a level right now that you should actually get paid for the time you waste on it.

PS: I just checked the review page and there are tons of low tier accounts with positive reviews featuring onliners like "yes", "good game" or, and I kidd' you not, ",,," - there is somthing fishy going with user reviews.

Okay, if you someone how actually played the original Street Of Rage as a kid, you are going to like it.
Especially if you find the short retro fights, which feel to me like a secret, so I just mention tazers and arcade machines.

So far I had no issues with the game (using my old Dualshock 2) and it is a blast.
All the options are there, heck, you can even skin the pickups with different types of food.
Runs flawless in 4k and personally I don't mind the graphical style at all. The sound and music is great and the story, well, seriously, it's Street of Rage, so common :-)

The only minor nitpick I had was the cutscenes. Obviously I played Blaze, cause, you know that's who I picked when I first played the game. However, Alex is the one dominantely shown in the cutscenes, because no matter who you pick, there's only one set of them. As I said, minor issue, but at first it confused me a little bit.

But you may now ask, what about monetization - how do they nickle and dime me after I payed full price?
Well, good news, it is a complete package. Everything is included and partially earned in game, so nobody can really complain about that.

Finally, I haven't tried coop yet - I know right, that is one important part. So far I haven't heard there are any major gaming breaking issues and it should ran quiet stable, but don't take my word for it - I simply don't know so far.

Okay, so far it's pretty good - however if you expect Doom you might get slightly disappoint. I feels more like Painkiller with the annoying side effect that you can't reach missed collectibles again because the path back is blocked after a new arena starts. And the constant weapon switching is a little bit annoying - exploration is no longer rewarded because of the very, very limited ammo pool compared to what you are used from a Doom game.

The game is rather good, but personally I miss customization options:

- Pause function:
Because the game can be rather long, a pause function would be great. Sadly RL can happen and that will always have priority over gaming.

- Save function:
Same reason as above, a save feature is needed because sometimes RL happens longer than gaming life. Who knew, right ?

- More options:
It would be great to have a customized start where you can actually set game speed (time per tick), combat speed etc. per slider. Maybe a few toggles like "Pause in character sheet", simply because it's actually pretty hard to setup all your guys before the first fight pops up. Customization is always key.

On a presentation note, the game doesn't disappoint. Granted, it could use hotkeys in the current state without the pause functionality implemented, but generally the UX is acceptable.

Keep in mind, this game is rather short and simplistic - twitch integration doubles the enjoyment IMO for both players and viewers, but it's a rather cheap game, so worth the fun ride. Not sure why the soundtrack is so expensive in comparison tho - that is kinda odd.

There is no balance to speak of, weapons handle totally crap - like nerf guns basically. UI is awful and feels like it was made by someone who never had a mouse in his hand ever. Same for in game controls ... the cover system pops out out by seemingly random, friendly NPC literally push you out of cover or block you if you try to get out of range of an AoE grenade. The setting is just some boring American city. Plenty poppings with my ePCI SDD, 32 GB RAM and a 1080 on the g-side. Generally the view distance and FoV seems to be very restrictive.

The most annoying problem is ofc Ubsioft servers:
DELTA C-0-1243 errors (the "our server suck" error) are plenty, the first time I got kicked out during the first cinematic ...

So nah, this is just an expensive, crappy version of Warframe. Tom Clancy would die again if he could see what crap gets attached with his name these days.
