It's a really good jumping off point for the Atelier series. It's super accessible. You get what you put in--you can spend hours minmaxing if you want, or you can just enjoy a cute slice of life game with your new best friends Sophie and Plachta. Definitely a cozy game where you immediately feel rewarded for the work you put into the incredibly well done crafting system. You'll end up tinkering for hours just to see what you can pull off without realizing how long it's been. If you're at all curious about this series, give Sophie a whirl. I loved this game

Edit: It's hard to find this info out there, but all of the "worse graphics" complaints and bugs about this remake have long since been fixed. If you're seeing stuff like that and it's putting you off, you can totally ignore it.
