From Tulsa to Muskogee to Broken Arrow, officers came from across the state to pay their respects to the K9 who was stabbed to death after tracking down a suspect. Kye's partner, Sgt. Ryan Stark, released him Sunday while chasing down 22-year-old Mark Salazar after a chase that ended near Goldsby on I-35. Stark said Kye had caught up to Salazar and he was about to call the dog off when he realized Salazar was stabbing the K-9. Sgt. Stark pulled his weapon and shot and killed the suspect.Authorities say Kye was rushed to a veterinarian where he underwent emergency surgery for multiple stab wounds. He died Monday of cardiac arrest. Kye was a 3-year-old Belgian German sheppard and he had been with the force for approximately two years.
