Damn, I've just finished the game and I feel like sh*t. I was holding back manly tears all through the last 15 minutes of the game, and the ending just devastated me. I was just a seconds away from breaking down like a little girl. What an emotional journey.

Ahem. OK, here's the review. The game follows the story of two brothers who go on an adventure to save their father, who has a serious disease and the cure is literally on the other side of the world. They overcome lots of different problems (mostly platforming) on their journey and they even escape some life-threatening situations.

The developers managed to create an incredible world filled with hundreds of little bits of lore, something even some AAA titles, with huge budgets and an army of lore-masters, cannot manage. The atmosphere just pulls you in and never lets you go until the end. I really regret that I had to play this game in multiple sessions instead of in just one sitting. I suppose the atmosphere, the satisfaction I felt after I finished the game would be much more profound that way.

The soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal. The game has one of the most goosebump-inducing soundtracks I've ever listened to. It suits the mood, the story so well that you'd think they made the game for the song, not the other way around.

The game is made with Unity engine (I think) and the graphics are very nice. I mean, it's not like they are cutting edge but the style they used for the game is incredibly atmospheric. A photorealistic game engine would really ruin the mood instead of enhancing it.

I played the game with an Xbox controller, and I have to admit, even with the controller the game was sometimes really difficult, some puzzles difficult to coordinate. Still, I had no real trouble. I really, really suggest a controller though; the game would probably be impossible to play with a keyboard.

All in all, I haven't felt this emotional thanks to a game since To the Moon. If you're looking for a game with an emotional story, perfect soundtrack and a cathartic ending, this is it.

Unless you've already read Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, prepare for one of the most haunting experiences in your life.

And dat plot-twist at the very end. Get emotionally rekt, m8.

I can't believe I paid money for this flash game. There are so many things wrong with this game:

- The creatures are downright carbon-copies with just recoloring. There is one normal zombie, one fat zombie, one muscular zombie, one dog and one crow in the entire game. All the enemy types are just different color versions of these, like green zombie is weak whereas red zombie is strong and blue zombie is fast, etc. So there are only 5 types of enemies in the entire game.

- The difficulty is almost extreme. From the moment you meet your first big muscular zombie, everything goes to sh*t. Even with a full team they take a lot of time to kill. Just when you upgrade all your team's weapons and start to take them down easily, the game introduces new giants with smileys for heads (seriously, they have a smiley for a head). The dogs are also nigh impossible to shoot before they inflict damage. They are way too fast to react before they reach you.

- The game has only 5 areas with; one starting area with your safehouse, two zones to the left and two zones to the right. After each night, you just pick a direction, walk towards that, and collect scrap you find on the way and turn back to your safehouse before it's dark again. It gets extremely repetitive and bland after just a few days. You get to to see all the zones in just a few days, so for 25 days or so, you visit the same areas for scrap again and again.

- The walking speed is extremely slow. There is an upgrade to increase it, but because of the difficulty, there are lots of other things that should be your priority before you get to increasing your speed. You can walk faster by jumping forward, which seriously induces muscle cramps in your fingers after a while.

- There are no more than 10 animations in the entire game. There isn't even a reload animation. It's a flash game for crying out loud, what do you expect?

- The voice over is very poor. The characters keep making the same terrible jokes again and again.

- The game keeps only one save file and it automatically overwrites it with each night. You lost two members in a night? Better Alf + F4 immediately before the game makes the auto-save. You just forgot that, said "I'll just reload my last save game?" F*ck you, you are stuck with the last night's failure. Good luck getting over the next night with just one team member.

- The game is unable to keep the settings. You have to manually set the game to fullscreen every time you open it.

- There are sometimes massive slowdowns even on my octo-core, GTX 660 system. We are talking about 1 FPS for a few seconds. In a Flash game. Slowdowns, 1 FPS, on a Flash game. Just think about it.

Is there nothing good in this game? Yes, there is: the cutscenes. Every few days, you get a short cutscene where you see the team members (even if they are dead at that moment) sharing a moment. They are really funny. Unfortunately, this is the only positive thing in the entire game.

Overall, don't bother with this game even if you got it in a bundle. Hell, don't bother with it even if you got it for free. Just stay away.

An unexpectedly magnificent game, very underrated. It's at least as good as, sometimes even better than, GTA IV. The story is incredible, with twists, tense action scenes and moving moments. It's a hundred times more memorable than GTA IV's storyline. Thanks to the enormous amount of attention paid to details, Hong Kong feels extremely immersive; I've never immersed myself so fully in a game since STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl. The graphics are superb even without the Definitive Edition (and on my meager laptop with medium-high settings); I can't imagine how it would look like in 4K. The fighting system is very fluid, you feel neither weak, nor like Batman who can take on 20+ enemies at once. The driving system feels a little bit rigid at first but once you get used to it, you won't have any problems. All in all, I definitely recommend this game to everybody looking for some open-world action with a good story to back up the gameplay.

One of the most interesting ideas I've ever seen in video gaming. Don't read the reviews, don't read any spoilers, just play the game! It only takes 10 minutes.

+ Cool new monsters. I loved the Caragath.

+ The story is not bad at all. It keeps you entertained all through to the end.

+ You get to learn more of Torvin's past.

+ There is absolute chaos in some missions, with you, Caragaths, Graugs and Ghuls storming a stronghold at the same time. It's like free-for-all mayhem. I had tons of fun at those missions.

- Rather short. I finished it in about 2-3 hours.

- It doesn't add a lot to the lore of the LOTR, only to Torvin.

- The story progresses by you branding warchiefs, just like in the "Bright Lord" DLC. I wish the story missions were more varied.

Verdict: Get it in a discount. It's not really worth the full price.

Not recommended. Compared to the main game, it feels extremely lackluster and rushed. The difficulty level is artificially spiked compared to both the "Lord of the Hunt" DLC and the main game. The main idea of the story is rather interesting (it fleshes out Celebrimbor's flashbacks in the main game) but there are tons of glaring lore inconsistencies. There is absolutely no pacing to the story, no character-building, no background setting. You are just given a map and told to go kill some orcs. You kill enough orcs and you face Sauron. The boss battle was the most artificially difficult one I've ever experienced for a long time. It felt extremely contrived. Let me sum it up for you:

1) You brand 5 warchiefs during the game.
2) When you face Sauron, those 5 warchiefs come to help you.
3) You beat Sauron.
4) Sauron just brushes off and turns all those warchiefs against you and disappears.
5) Now you have to beat them again.
6) Sauron appears again and ressurrects a random warchief. Now you have to fight against both Sauron and that warchief.

All in all, this DLC is definitely not worth it. It's too similar to the "Lord of the Hunt" DLC, but that DLC had a spirit at least. This DLC lacks spirit, story and a meaningful gameplay.

P.S: Don't forget to do all the "One Ring" missions or the boss battle will be extremely difficult.

There are literally thousands of other reviews, so I'll keep mine concise.

+ An excellent storyline. The story follows Talion, a Gondorian ranger who is stationed at Black Gate. He is later possessed by a very important and very powerful figure in Middle Earth's history. The story's pace is quite good, though it feels a bit disconnected towards the end.

+ The lore is greatly enhanced by the artifacts you find. Collect all the artifacts if nothing else. I especially loved the ones where they delve into lore of Blue Wizards.

+ You get to see lots of important characters from the Middle Earth's history, and also many characters from the movie trilogy. I'm an avid fan of LOTR mythology, so this game was a very good opportunity to refresh my memory.

+ The voice-acting and sound effects are incredible. It really feels like you are watching a movie during cutscenes.

+ For those achievement hunters, the game is choke-full of collectibles and challenges, though none of them unlock anything in the game (This may be a negative point for some).

+ Towards the end of the game you become something like a demigod. If you unlock all abilities and find all the epic runes for your weapons, there is nothing that can stand in your way, be it Graugs or hordes of orcs (This may be a negative point for some).

+ The nemesis system really makes you want to go take your revenge.

+ I loved the bit about Ratbag. I think all the quests related to him were hilarious.

+/- The graphics are not ground-breaking. They are nice, for sure, but not mind-blowing.

+/- The combat is nothing special. It uses the same system as Arkham games. It is less fluid than Arkham, but more lethal. You need to be more careful. With a little reflex, you can beat 20+ men easily as Batman, but you will die a lot if you try to take on 20+ orcs here (until you unlock epic runes and abilities at least).

- Throughout the game I had frequent sound glitches. It may be my system (I'm using a Sound Blaster Z and I play with heaphones. I chose "headphones" in the audio options menu). The problem is, after a while all speech sounds come from the left speaker, some speech sounds are very muffled, and some sound effects are completely muted. Restarting the game fixes the issue.

- There are tons of challenges and collectibles but none of them unlock anything.

- If you don't rush thorugh the game and do all the quests and everything, you become nigh-invincible towards the end and the game loses all challenge (This was not a negative for me but it may disappoint many people).

- There are some rare bugs in some missions which forces you to restart them.

- The unskippable little cutscenes you have to watch every time you face an Orc captain or Warchief start getting boring after a while.

Verdict: I think this game is a must-play for everyone, even if you are not really interested in the LOTR. There are some negative points to be sure, but the positives far, far outweigh them. Definitely recommended.

+ Many types of zombies and occasional bosses
+ Many types of weapons with different mechanics, different ammo types, and different effects
+ Many types of grenades with various effects
+ Many types of items with interesting uses, like fireworks which gets the zombies looking up at the sky drooling
+ Looting system which finances your "war effort"

+/- I played this game solely single-player, so I can't comment on co-op and how fun it is
+/- I played both scenarios on "Normal" difficulty but "Normal" is too easy. I'd recommend choosing Hard or Hardest.
+/- The game is quite short (just a couple of hours) but when you consider the availability of co-op, survival modes, and (most importantly) the price, it's quite worth it.

- The sound effects are a little bit lacking, there is not much diversity. Also, there is a big jump in volume when a horde spawns, so be prepared.

A nice little game to pass the time. It tests your reflexes and timing. Be warned though, if you are a completionist, this game will have you pulling your hair, as it gets very difficult towards the end. I've just played the main quests and the majority of side quests, and that was enough. I've bought this game in a bundle and I got my money's worth many times over. Recommended for casual and hardcore players alike.
